Here in brazil a 144hz monitor cost more than a minimum wage, but even with that I got one and man the difference is huge

I've been playing 60fps/hz on 720p since season 0. I've practiced all I could with the hardware I have. Now, I'm building a pc with the potential to hit 1080p 240hz. I'm so excited, should be done building by the end of the year!

from someone that gets easily 200 fps on a 144hz monitor: it's night and day, quite literally.
before i thought it was kind of a waste of money, but then I gave it a shot.
my aim is kinda okay, so when i switched i literally started getting double the kills, from 3--4 each game to 7--8 - also I believe corridor digital showed a study that human eyes don't have a specific frame rate, it's adaptative to focus, but if it was a camera it'd be around 500 fps. so it's definitely notable.

recently played apex in 60hz down from 240hz. The things main things i noticed were higher input delay on 60hz, and definetly harder to spot people at a distance, almost felt blind.
My aim was still consistant and I was even hitting some shots I normally wouldnt hit. I almost feel like you can predict enemies movements better?

However once you try 144 or 240hz monitors theres is absolutely no going back.
I highly encourage everyone to buy a 144hz monitor (if your hardware can support it) because it is such a treat to your eyes and to play on.

"Can't see above 98 fps."
I play on an average of 70 fps. I can see the difference when my computer randomly jumps to 100 fps or more.
Thanks for the video.

As someone who is playing at 720p at abt 20-50 fps with adaptive refresh rate set to 60 (in apex settings)
I will take all the frames I can

You are a legend for playing heavens tower in the background. Also great video. Also high fps/refresh rates really do make a difference in gameplay for me. Going from 60fps to 144 you can tell a huge difference.

Love the Chrono Trigger music in the background 😩💕👌🏾

definitely, jumping from low hz to high hz monitor will make u play like u have never touched the game before. I personally jumped from 60hz to 144hz recently expecting better results but i actually started playing worse for a short while lol. It does take a little getting used to before ur experience will start to improve.

I can confirm... having a 240hz monitor, doesn't make you a better gamer. that's a huge! misco from companies that sells them. it helps, but... won't make you a star. your points are right on the nail man. like I play on a 60hz with a very good input response. I didn't see.... a single difference on my eyes. wise man! :)

I gotta say man, I watch a lot of your videos and the other day you wiped our whole squad. This is that clip. Great content, good win and thanks for getting me to be a better place in Apex!

P.S. that really is my squad at the end

Honestly this is a trick to get you to spend more money. 60FPS is the best as your brain can't process that much higher especially when going beyond 144. Seriously just make sure you're at 60 with high resolution and you should be good

5:47 When I switched to 144, first thing I did was try to play PUBG. The first impression was that altho there were more frames now, the perceived speed at which thing happen in game became not faster, but slower to me! Not in a way that of stuttering, but in a way where I have bigger window to react because I can see stuff sooner and in more detail

I remember back when I switched from my 60 Hz monitor to a 144 Hz one and just being amazed and how the game looked 😲

I definitely was able to hit a bit more shots with more frames, but being a better player came down to me putting the time in to practice!

Really fast tldr: It's 2021. You can find 144hz monitors for <$200 <$180 <$160 frequently. Black Friday is coming up. If your computer can hold a steady 144fps in the main games you play, you should 120% invest the aforementioned amount (whichever fits your budget) in a monitor that outputs >60hz. Oh yeah, regular web browsing will also be smoother as well as scrolling through text. Thank you for attending this ted talk.

By the way, speaking from a graphics engine standpoint and doing software engineering. FPS in game and Hertz have been decoupled for a long time.

What you really need to look at is maximum, minimum, and average frame rate delay, that's right, I said delay. That is how long it will at said frames per second before it changes. Also, the higher the delay the less likely you are to see your opponent. Now, this is not just your monitor, this is your card. Turning down the settings, while it does help the delay to a certain degree, it doesn't actually help too much because of the way the operating system, the video and network drivers work, as well as your graphics card and monitor. There's a lot more complexity to this question than people realize.

People don't under what Hertz on a progressive scan monitor actually means, it's different than the older standard called, interlace.

The other thing that screws you up is hitting peaks and valleys, going up and down in the frame rate when your delay is fast in one direction but slow in another, this is actually what causes the simulator sickness (like motion sickness but much worse). It's a sudden increase in delay that causes your frame rate to plummet and stay down there, which is when you get sick.
