Here in Germany honey is always required by law to be unheated/raw and unfiltered. Honey that has been processed in any form isn't even allowed to be sold as honey lol.

I just buy locally harvested honey from the farmers market. Much safer than buying from the grocery store! You can actually talk to the farmers and find out how they raise their bees.

Most low carb diet experts don't recomnend honey in this particular diet. But, I'm glad to say after reaching my goal weight at age 70, with passing my EKG, blood pressure mormal at most times, ect... I now add honey in my diet at reasonable amounts. Esoecially since I had been a beekeeper nany years ago! ❤

Local, raw, plus you're supporting the local economy and keeping $$ in the community.

The best honey I ever had was from our own bees. We didn’t have bees, but a swarm came into our yard years ago and a bee keeper friend came over and put them in a hive box. We had delicious honey for years until one year the bees froze. Now I don’t eat honey.

Find a local beekeeper and get it from them

It should cost a little bit more, but you’re paying to keep things local and real.

Go to your local farmer's market to buy honey. Not only do you get to meet the beekeeper and talk about his wares. You get the added benefits that come from local honey - such as an immunity boost from local allergens. Buy locally sourced honey whenever possible.

The big problem with the food industry is if it says so on the packaging, it doesn’t mean it’s accurate information. I’ve bought “pure” “organic” butter before, that stated ONLY butter milk as an ingredient. It even tasted like real butter! It went bad in the fridge, and the smell of it clearly indicated that it was pure margarine. After that incident, I have a hard time trusting the packaging… 😔

Personally really like the 365 raw honey from Whole Foods… very good and very affordable compared to most other store raw honey.. unless you can find it locally.

There is literally nothing you can do to ensure the purity of honey, even expensive Manuka honey, short of getting it tested by an independent lab, or buying it from a local beekeeper you trust. I read an article that talked about how they tested a bunch of different brands and prices and a cheap Walmart brand happened to have pure honey, and they found an expensive Manuka honey spiked with corn syrup.

Still sugar for me. Worried about returning to addiction and Miss Chub.

Although honey has a lower glycemic index (GI) than table sugar, it still contains sugar. And any type of sugar will raise your blood glucose levels.

Honey and sugar are both carbohydrates, consisting of the two types of sugar: Glucose and fructose, both of which are broken down quickly by the body and can cause spikes in blood sugar levels. Overeating added sugars, including honey, can pose other health risks.

I gave up bee spit years ago. 🥴
