I like to call my experience with this “lazy perfectionism”, as in if I like whatever activity it is or am motivated in any way to do it, then I want it done right, but this negatively impacts me in two ways; one is if I don’t think I can’t get it done in a reasonable time or that the effort is more than I’m willing to give then I don’t even really try, or if I’m halfway into a project and hit a speed bump then I’m likely to reevaluate the likelihood I’ll actually be able to complete it how I want and either put it off till I get that motivation again or I drop it completely.

You just described myself, definitely harshly judge myself when I make mistakes. I've been informed that I'm a perfectionist but I agree I don't have high standards of performance. How do I get out of this cycle of harshly judging myself? Where does it start?
