Appearing like a flash from your pocket and securely locking closed with its distinctive snap it's a true "pocket sword" worthy of the name Espada!

Like the swords of old, our Espada's are not for the weak, timid, faint of heart or those desiring another spring assisted play toy. Just pick one up and you'll see what we mean!
These huge yet surprisingly well balanced knives feature a dramatically upswept clip point blade that is ideal for cutting, slashing and piercing. Made from vacuum heat-treated and sub-zero quenched Japanese 8A stainless steel and hollow ground to a thin, razor sharp edge, they are as fast and ferocious as they are attractive.
The Espadas state of the art pistol grip handles are strongly curved and equipped with multiple finger grooves and a sub-hilt that gives unprecedented retention and reach through multiple grip options.
Their CNC machined frames and integral bolsters are made from 7075 Aluminum billets. Rivalling Titanium in strength, they can endure many years of even the hardest use. Finally, we mirror polish the dovetailed bolsters and attach high gloss black G-10 handle scales using the latest high tech fasteners.
We place great value on our customers' fingers, and we don't believe any razor sharp tactical folder should be produced without possessing an incredibly strong and reliable lock. That's why we have equipped the Espada with our multi-patented TRI-AD lock. Designed by Andrew Demko, the TRI-AD is unsurpassed in the industry, and remains to this day the strongest, safest locking mechanism in the world

Espada XL is my favorite knife of all time. I have two of them, the original and the G10 version. Both of them are excellent and I love carrying them whenever possible. Definitely has that awesome factor that never gets old.

I commend Cold Steel for making the Espada which is hands down the best combat folder ever made.

A good knife for self defense needs to be large for reach and deep cuts, heavy for penetration power and razor-sharp.

Just the size will intimidate the crap out of most attackers.

i got the Large version as a edc, best knife i ever owned, does everything i need from edc cutting to defensive purposes and it does it all Looking like the king of knives! Only problem i have with it is that i spend alot of time polishing it haha!

Say what you want about Cold Steel, but what company even has the balls to make folders of this caliber? 5.5-7.5" blades, high quality materials, the world's fastest knife opening method (faster even than an automatic, and some would argue actually better than an Emerson), the strongest and safest folding knife lock, with classic Spanish Navaja flavor. All for under $400. Not many CUSTOM folders can even approach that. What an achievement.

Yeah, they're made in Taiwan. LOTS of high quality blades come out of Taiwan. Every Taiwanese Cold Steel I've ever owned has been lightyears ahead of every Chinese knife I've ever held in my life. Make 'em in America, jack the price up an extra $50 for little to no gain in quality.
