The Espada is the best tactical folder ever made and I own. It has all the attributes a good combat knife needs.

1. Fast, instant deployment due to the large pocket catch.
2. Long blade. A fighting knife should be at least 5 inches long since your primary target is the opponents hand holding the knife. Plus all slashes will be deeper.
3. It has a good weight for striking and the momentum drives the blade deeper into the flesh.
4. The handle gives you two great gripping options, extending reach even further to 8+ inches.

6. The size will intimidate the crap out of most attackers. I was threatened once by a guy holding a broken bottle. When I rapidly deployed it he took off.

maybe the greatest defense folder ever made. The best part IMHO is the fact that not only do you get a big knife is that when it is in your pocket it really doesn't show the size or take away your mobility.

I love that cold steel has a passion for REAL martial arts. This is obvious for all their employees. I wish my grandfather was still alive he loved fighting and training with all types of weapons and all types of martial arts, and i wish i could of bought him and showed him your amazing products. You guys would of been the one stop shop for him.

It's definitely one of the best for stabbing and speed, but the Espada is more powerful in sheer cutting power and durability.

5:30 told me what I wanted to know, it can stab strait edge down. I have had a few knife fighting classes and the classic European fencers were right, a stab is a little faster and harder to gaurde. Slashing has it's place too, don't get me wrong but I would want a self defense knife that can handle a striat stab without having to turn the edge up.
