I have made a decision to stop watching unboxing and haul videos. After adding up my receipts for taxes I was shocked at how many impulse buys I made as a result of watching these!

I only buy thing that I've been depriving myself of for any years, Dried out and old makeup, better skin products for my face, new sheets and pillows for better sleep, a new wallet to replace the one I've had for twenty years that's been falling apart. I'm 71 years old. Now I feel I owe it to myself to buy some things to make me happy. When my husband was alive the focus seemed to be on his needs. Now I need to take care of me.

When I feel I've been spending too much I watch minimalist videos to bring me back to reality even though I don't call myself minimalist. I'm 100% debt free including my mortgage so I can easily afford nice things but I don't want to have too much of unnecessary things sitting in my closet.

I have discovered that what matters to me is quietness and hearing the birds sing The peace that enjoying simple things brings is truly priceless

It took me a long time to realize that I don't need to keep up with my friends. Most of them are in debt over thier head, have filed for bankruptcy, and are anxious about the future. I am debt free and don't need things to make me happy. I have the cash available to travel if I want to and for unexpected expenses. I make under $40, 000/year. This channel has helped my journey immensely!

I love how you said, “the feeling of wanting more is not an isolated emotion”. It comes with feelings of jealousy or anger or resentment- that was SO insightful and powerful. If we reflect on this it can truly be heart changing which in turn, can be action changing.✨💗

The # 1 ¨ Practise gratitude for the things we have !! ¨ speaks to me the most! Hot water in the morning, going to the..bathroom inside even! Being warm and confortable; people in Ukraine don't even have the basics! Thank you for reminding us of the amazing chances we have!

Thanks for this excellent video. Here are three more tips: First, I go through my closets, drawers, shelves, and cupboards regularly to shed unwanted and unneeded possessions. Doing so helps me to stay organized but also makes me confront purchases that didn't work out for me, which in turn helps me to be much more intentional about future purchases. Second, I delay making purchases whenever I can. I put items I want on a wish list or into an online shopping cart and make myself wait at least a few days before buying them. Often, I forget about the item or decide when I return to it that the purchase isn't necessary. And, when I do decide to pull the trigger, I know that it is a considered purchase, not an impulsive one. Finally, I shop with a definite plan. I assess my clothing and accessories at the start of each season and make a list of items that are tired and that need repair or replacing, as well as new items that would help me to round out my wardrobe. Then, I shop with an eye toward making those specific purchases. That strategy helps me to stay on track but also, over time, it has helped me to develop beautiful, carefully-curated, high-functioning wardrobe.

Appreciating what you have is the best tip! Having manageable wants is the secret to being happy. If I buy the thing I want most another item will take its place. Emotional spending can be a big problem too.

I stop following influencers and makeup brands pages in Instagram. It really helps 🤗

I don't shop for new items anymore but I have an addiction to thrifting decor! I'm going to give it a try. This video was good for me.

The tip being grateful for what I already have and the tip paying off my bill instead of buying unnecessary items. I have been able to stop myself by reasoning with why I need to buy a certain item. Thank You for these tips. 🧡

If I have a goal - a trip to England, a family member's upcoming birthday, a car to replace my clunker - it helps me say no to things I don't really need. And then when I am able to travel or pay for a surprise party for my mom, I feel such a sense of accomplishment and it makes the "sacrifices" worthwhile.

Thanks so much for these tips! We were taught at a young age not to try to do what everyone else is doing. You can only run one household and that is all. My father taught us to live with some "common sense." If there is two incomes coming into the home, life off of one and save the other. That way, you will always have some reserves if anything arises. Basically, like you said, people just need to learn to live within their means and stop trying to do what you know you are not capable of doing at the time. Thanks for sharing!

Def felt what you said on, "buying things to fill a void." I don't buy things for myself but find myself trying to buy things for others to fix their problems.

Thank you for this video. I have been making purchases to fill a void that never gets filled. I’m on a no buy for non-essentials (i.e. makeup) as I don’t need anymore and I have more than one face can wear. I’ve also stopped watching new makeup haul videos.
