Unfortunately, none of the solutions in the video worked, but what did work was installing the Windows 7/8 version instead of the 10/11 version.

Thank you! Also another possible issue: I was not able to install it on my alternate drive without it crashing. Try installing the game on your main drive with Windows on it.

If you are still having troble try installing it on the C: drive. i keep getting errors on all othere drives.

None of these methods worked for me, but i was able to fix it by doing this:
Open task manager -> In the "processes" tab locate "background processes" -> Locate the process "minecraft launcher" and terminate it, now start minecraft.

I'm still having problems. I deleted any traces of Minecraft in my PC, I still can't update it.
EDIT: I uninstall the Launcher again, and downloaded Minecraft Launcher in the Microsoft Store. It works now!

So say if u can’t rename the folder is it a good idea as long as u have moved files say someplace else? Can i delete the folder…. ? It’s been giving me trouble all day …

I figured out what the issue was for me, I was trying to install the launcher on my second hard drive and the .minecraft folder under roaming was under my main hard drive so I would try downloading the launcher to the same drive that your .minecraft folder is located if you have more than one hard drive.
