Who tf cares anyways. Especially with mathematics, it's entirely possible for someone to be completely enthralled by the subject. If someone likes studying a subject and they can devote enormous amounts of time to it then great. I think the bigger elephant is how people who tend to mention it as a bad thing typically say it out of spite. And to that I would say they need to find happiness within themselves.
