The whole point of this exercise, and Bill saying he polled 30 people, 26 were different, is to display that Tom Hanks pretty much never missed. Guy makes a good/great movie every damn time. He's been in some masterpieces, and some HUGE blockbusters. However, when asked about his own Top 3, he doesn't pick the ones that made the most money, or the ones that won him awards... he picks the movies where his family made their fondest memories while he shot them. As great of an actor as Tom Hanks clearly is, he's clearly an even greater man.

Tom is not just an American Treasure but a Treasure to the World. Here in Australia many can relate to the sense of isolation and loneliness portrayed whilst on the island in Cast Away. The vastness of a landscape or area. The film hits home on so many levels. The concept of Time, such a fantastic motif in the first act, and then for Chuck time just stops. What would any of us do when eventually the clock starts ticking again? Many great, philosophical and humanistic questions embedded in this gem of a movie. But Tom's treasure chest is filled with gems. So mesmeric to hear him talk about the making of the movies in his Top 3, and how that informed his choices. Just wonderful!

Road to Perdition is an underrated gem.. for us it's a remote drop any time it's on. The first bv time I ever saw Daniel Craig before bond and a beautiful score by Thomas Newman . Amazing film

The school I teach at held a Twitter campaign to get Tom Hanks to be our grand marshal for our homecoming week. The theme was Tom Hanks movies. It got national attention, and while he wasn’t able to attend, he sent a video from where he was on location for The Circle. It was very detailed and he made a lot of effort to make it worthwhile. He even included Emma Watson and Jon Boyega. He then donated one of his personal typewriters (autographed), which now sits in our trophy case.
