I have a 3mm x 6mm posterocentral protrusion in the t6-t7 in thoracic spine, no sequestration or significant spinal cord damage, I had a CT scan, should I have a MRI to be sure, I was in so much pain, heaps of nerve pain, my left side is more effected, my whole left shoulder went stiff and had burning pain down left side of spine from shoulder down upper back is that normal for that area? I am having improvements but mainly a tight compression feeling in the area, I constantly feel it, I'm going on 3 months, how serious is a protrusion in that area? Can I live pain free one day? Can disc protrusions cause arthritis or other problems later in life?

I have multilevel disc protrusion at each level from t4 thru t12 and a paracentral disc extrusion at t9-t10 with severe pain radiating into my flank around and into the abdomen the last surgeon I seen said surgery wouldn't help and didn't recommend surgery. What do you think? The pain is severe like I am being stabbed to death, taking max Lyrica dose and hydrocodone-acetamen 7.325 but unable to take together with nausea. I have a high pain tolerance this makes my lumbar and sciatica issues seem like a birthday party. Need relief

My mom 55yo was recommended surgery for Cervical Radiculopathy, protrusions on C5-C6, C6-C7 for symptoms on hands and arms, and headaches. They are not treating it as an emergency, but they want to schedule it in 6 months or so. Does it sound like surgery is absolutely necessary?

Hello Dr I Have a minimum broad based disc protrusion, I just have it after making a physical demanding job, the doctor told me it's not dangerous and didn't affect the nerve, do you think it can be healed and what is your advise ?

I have a 8 mm left posterolateral extrusion compressing the proximal left S1 nerve root at L5-S1. You are very right about only 1 or 2 positions being comfortable. I am a college athlete on scholarship so this is very devastating. Everything you said about the pain and frustration is spot on. Great video. Super informative.

The other day when I was going for a kettlebell swing, I experienced what felt like a "slip" in my lower back. That's the best way I can described it. But I can't seem to find any other descriptions like that or any definitive explanation for such a phenomenon. Prior to this, for a couple of days, I was experiencing tinnitus and what I would describe as a stiffness that kept me slightly hunched over even when walking around. I thought I was just sore or had been sitting in a chair too long and was getting tight hip flexors. What are your thoughts, please?

How long does it take to heal from an extrusion on average? Is it months? Weeks? Years? What if anything speeds recovery?

Th pain was defend on how much the nerve was pinched. I have protrusion causing sever stenosis, how i wish it extruded. I observed most extrusion heal their pain quicker, protruson never heal.

Great explanation! Is there a way to reignite the inflammatory cascade? I recently reaggrevated my disc, mri from 4 weeks ago showed a 7mm extrusion. I was making significant improvements, but now it is weak again, but the pain has subsided.

Hi am diagnosed by loss of lumbar lordosis with posterior central disc protrusion at L4-L5. Can you help me by suggesting, how serious is the issue and what can I do about it?

I have a question, Does the disc in the Extrusion condition after recovery get back the same as before? Will the disc loss of the nucleus be regenerated? or will the entire disc be flat? and if the circumstances that caused the herniation continued will cause more progressive issues such as disc degeneration or thinning the next time? Like, we only have one chance for our bodies to deal with this trauma, and the next time is going to be harder to deal with-ish?
