Thank you for the kind words, Dave - we really appreciate it. 2023 - big push for bigger and better!

The "excitement in the driving experience" nailed it for me, iRacing I played tons and used to spend ages practicing and did not enjoy much of it at all but did enjoy the races. In RF2 I literally enjoy every lap, the feeling of the car through the wheel brings so much enjoyment in the driving experience

100% agree Dave. I have tried all sims but always come back to rfactor2. So glad LFM have given it a new lease of life! The tyre degradation punishes poor driving. Make sure you take the McLaren Senna for a drive, my favourite car in Rfactor 2

If you had the UI and Multiplayer setup of iRacing and the driving model, visuals and mechanics of RF2, in one game, and you'd have a mighty racing sim.

Hi Dave! Thanks for this video. I tried rF2 awhile back and gave up. I just couldn't get it configured - controls, graphics, etc. With all your enthusiasm for the sim and your advice to spend an hour to get it all sorted out. So I did just that - TRUTH: took me more than an hour, but I'm slow. I got the graphics, controls, and even got SimHub dash overlay working as well. I love the game now! Thank you! Thank you!

I love that you mention "you never know what weather you're going to get" then show a clip of Knockhill. You know you're getting rain at Knockhill, every single time.

I agreed with you Dave, I race in ACC and I used to love it but I got bored by the limited content, then I have tried Iracing but man, the price to be racing each... then i started hearing about RF2 and all my friends telling me I have to try it and since then Im addicted to the game, It doesn't have the most beautiful graphics but the experience of driving any car in game is just amazing.

Great Video Dave as always, I hope one day we can race together!

Finally someone giving RF2 the tribute it needs to have !!

You got it on the nail! Fantastic review. RF2 is so much more refined in terms of physics. I'm no where near the level you are, but enjoy racing online without getting crucified with the insane pile ups and the verbal a use that ensues. Takes all the enjoyment out of online racing. "Do it for fun", key comment! Thank you for this great review.

My only Gripe now with RF2 is the lack of track specific setups in the base content. That's one thing ACC and IRacing at least give you out of the box. Not looking for a perfect setup, just something in the ballpark.
Hoping LFM can also make a good 'different' range of series to race in... there's plenty GT3 ones for ACC and IRacing, so need something different.

Never thought I'd see these two worlds collide. Glad you're enjoying it, Dave!

My iRacing subscription expired last month, and if rF2 managed to boot into the menu here, I'd give it a bash. Alas, I'll live vicariously via your streams.

Hey Dave - I completely get what you are saying. I originally started with Iracing about 7-8 years ago, and it was a much different story at that time - What Iracing provided you couldnt get anywhere else. Its changing though. There is more competition, and at the end of the day, sim racers want the best experience they can get. The truth of the matter is, once you get used to playing a sim with a driving experiece as rich as Rfactor2, driving a car in Iracing just seems...2 dimensional. EVEN with the dated UI and stability issues. There are many sim racers who are perfectly fine putting up with that, as long as the driving experience itself is good. You hit the nail on the head, Iracing really just is Accellerate, Brake, Turn with nothing in between. I want to love Iracing. I love the idea it. But in recent months, I will jump into a practice session only to turn it off moments later to boot up AC, ACC or RF2.

I am sure its not just you and I having these feels, and if thats the case, Iracing will be in big trouble if they dont address the issues that simracers are having on their platform. Bringing at least some of those features that you mentioned; dynanmic weather, rain, flat spots on tires/better force feedback would be a great place to start.

Great chat on what was and has been my goto driver since its release yonks ago, it was just brilliant, I loved it above all the other titles although it looks a bit different now since I last booted it up. Now everybody I played with has moved on to other titles without me cos I've been out of the seat for a while now as time has been a limiting factor for me to be able to race over the last couple of years at least BUT..as I'm "off work" recovering from a small op at the min, I've been filling my time here watching NEW people "like yourself" on racing videos to see what i've been missing and it's got me buzzin !! Im itching to dust the old wheel off and get some time on track whilst my hardwear still can "for now" at least hahaha.
I do like racing offline as I've never been great at setups to compete in online races at the level I know I could achieve if I could master the bloody things as even if I touch 1 or 2 things its makes it worse not better so stock setups and offline racing was great for me and I could turn up or down the level to give me a great racing experience without blowing the field away, a bit like the results in your BTCC @ Oulton Park video "which was great to watch by the way" and it's nice to see an older fella like myself turning laps in race sims instead of all the young ones all over Utube. I Like that 👍. So as soon as Im able to heal enough to get set up and race on my old Potato PC I'll be turning some laps on this game for sure !! Great video Dave, New Sub here looking forward to seeing your other videos now and "hopefully" I'll see you on track. 👍

My very first time to play rFactor 2 today after reading this presentation. I'm old and I'm coming from the old Midtown Madness (released 1999 haha!), then AC, ACC, Proj 1 and 2. Wow... rFactor 2 is just amazing. The driving experience is frighteningly real. Thank you for this vid presentation. Straightforward. Clear. Excellent! No annoying comments trying to be cool or funny. Subbed!

You serve as a great source of information concerning sim racing. I'm presently an Iracing guy but knowing about other programs/ packages helps all of us. Good job

Well Dave i have been an avid supporter of yours since the early days when you have a couple hundred subscribers and I cant get enough of your content. I never really took to Iracing.. but I have always LOVED RF2.. Sadly yes you are right, the online racing for it was appalling but with these recent improvements its really brought this game (along with your support) back int the spot light and now everyone can see just how damned good this simulator really is.. Stick with it my friend, the more RF2 content you can throw in this direction the happier I will be!

I agree, I have used them all except RF2 because every time I tried Rf2 it was a mess that crashed a lot. I tried it again because of your coverage. The cars feel amazing. No other sims feel like this. You can keep a car right on the edge of sliding. I could not even feel the edge on most cars.

I've heard iRacing called Guitar Hero with a wheel and pedals. The driving can feel 'formulaic', as opposed to the thrill of driving a car. Ultimately the reason so many of us love cars (combustion cars usually) is theatre and character. I think other sims provide that better than iRacing, they let you enjoy being on and over the limit. Just my 2c, what do I know.

And yea, the RF2 pricing model is a bit scummy making you buy all the cars, iRacing is scummy in that you lose content you've bought if you don't pay the monthly ransom. They'll all try and screw ya some way, I do trust Reiza (AMS2) though tbf.

I've owned rFactor 2 for about 6 years, played it once when I first downloaded it, didn't like it and never used it again, always used iRacing. This video alone made me just update it and jump on, 30 mins later messing with some key binds I'm in a race at practice session at Oulton park and blown away by the physics and driving, they're so good! And so much more fun than iRacing!!

Certainly will be fine tuning this game and playing it a lot more.
