Your videos are always good, but in terms of information content, this is exceptional. I very much appreciate that you did not simplify the recommendations but instead pointed out the variety of things that one must consider (e.g., absorption rate, ancillary aids (exercise, gut microbiome, etc.) — you presented a more complete picture than one typically gets. I also liked the implicit endorsement (via pictures and not words) of sunlight as a good source of vitamin D (summer only for we who live far from the equator). Great video.

One key thing with tahini: there is a big difference between tahini made from hulled vs unhulled sesame seeds. Hulled-sesame tahini is the default in most grocery stores in the US and it’s not a great calcium source since a lot of the calcium is in the outer seed layer. You might also see unhulled tahini sold as “whole seed tahini”. While I’m here: blackstrap molasses is another great calcium source- mine has 203mg calcium in 1 tbs (16mL)

I watched this video to my dinner. After the list I looked at my plate: Broccoli and brusselsprouts on ma's, topped with tahini dressing (and potatoes). Guess I don't need a calcium supplement today 😂

Pls keep up the good work, you're inspiring and my favourite channel on YouTube in terms of livestyle, food and health 💚

Oxalates are water soluble, so blanching / boiling and discarding the water will remove most of it. I'm Korean and this is how we eat spinach -- blanching, dunking in cold water and squeezing it will not only remove oxalates but keep it bright green. Lightly season with salt / soy sauce, garlic, green onion, toasted sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds -- yum!

Great point about absorption rate of different foods. Dairy doesn't look that great when compared to greens and soy!

Thank you so much! I thought for sure spinach was #1 for calcium intake. But I will certainly focus on eating more kale! Also, thank you for reminding us how vital resistance training is!

Very reassuring since our diet is loaded with a variety of the plants, beans and seeds you mentioned. Now to get back to the weight bearing exercise!

Excellent video! Knowing that you actually have the education to back up your information is so important to me. Love the format using the graphs etc, as well. Perfect amount of information. Would absolutely watch more of these videos!

Just started a 30 day 1 quart a day of green smoothies. Glad to see your video to remind me it’s not just vitamins and fiber we’re getting when knocking back a green smoothie.

This is the first perfect nutrition channel. Not talking way too much (coming straight to the point), being friendly, including timestamps, no silly ads for the own company or something similar. I really appreciate such content. I just subscribed and turned on notifications, such as liked the video of course. Keep it up! 💯👍

Thank you for making this video, I've been researching calcium lately because I broke my leg very badly, completely crushed and destroyed my tibial plateau. the top of my tibia broke off and fractures running down the length of the tibia. reconstructive surgery. It's been 7 months and it feels like this has ruined my ability to surf. I'm glad I eat these foods on a regular basis being PBWF. Just want to warn people, please please please don't ride electric skateboards or one wheels. I've been skating for 30 years and I never fall, terrible at doing tricks but I'm an expert rider. 2nd day riding it and I learned that skateboards should not have brakes. I also know a very famous skateboard manufacturer who spiral fractured his femur on the same board. Another guy (friend of a friend) died by cracking his skull open. There are others and these are all people with decades of experience, not doing anything dangerous, just riding. All the Drs and nurses I spoke with all had many stories involving electric bikes/skateboards/one wheels. I wish more than anything to go back in time and never ride it. Sorry for the rant but I just want to try to warn others before this happens to anyone else.

Thank you for the tips! Always thinking about this since I'm 60 and don't want to start breaking bones 😫 It was suggested to me to wear a weighted vest when at home doing housework, etc. I plan on joining my local gym and starting a workout including some weight lifting.

Wait, one can put the mushrooms in the sun after they have been harvested? 🤔 i thought they had to be grown outdoors to have the vitD benefits🙈 i‘ll have to look into that. I might start sunbathing my champignons😂

In the UK the RDA for calcium is 700mg. And I’m sure I read somewhere the WHO recommended just 500mg (but I couldn’t find anything on Google to back that up!). Would be interesting to know what other countries around the world RDA’s are and compare to how much influence the dairy industry has on their government’s dietary recommendations. 🤔

This was excellent, thank you! :😊 Can we please, please have a similar one about iron? I came up iron deficient a few months ago and research is a bit contradictional...

As always a great video.
I've been told that pearl powder is great for calcium (Chinese medicine). Though it isn't vegan, I found it surprising
