For those who dont know, the reason why everyone hates meg is in the hurricane episode where meg finally stands up for herself, then she realizes that the reason they are mean to her is that they use her to absorb the disfunction that the family needs to stay connected. And to add on the creators of the show admitted that they didn't know how to write about a teenage girl.
