I earned a B.A. in Commmunication Studies. After I graduated, I could not find a job related to what I studied. I went back to college to earn a second bachelor's degree in Computer Science. After that, I started to work as a software engineer and I've been doing that for the past 13+ years. I'm glad that I earned that second degree.

Can you please make a video on how to pick a college major? Like "if you're interested in ___ these are the majors that have the highest predicted employment rate, starting salary, etc." while also considering what kind of schools you're applying to and like how competitive some majors are?

Controversial topic from a usually very kind person. I like it.

The caveat to Philosophy grads is that they score the highest by far on the Law School Admissions Exam, and salaries of graduates from great law schools can easily be 3x higher than anything else on this list.

Okay, I'm betting my double-majors are on here: fine art and history! Certainly my kid's major, theater, has GOT to be here. Okay, time to watch and find out...

Many of these majors are best understood as a foundation for grad school, and shouldn't really be considered a terminal degree for employment in some field. If you go into a bachelor's program understanding that, you won't be so rudely awakened later. For example, as a Classics major you can maybe teach Latin (likely low-paying), or use it as a great foundation for a law degree. Same with history, philosophy, gender studies, English, etc. Taking advantage of extra-curricular opportunities, internships and networking also makes a huge difference in getting a great job later. It's not just about the degree earned.

Getting an Elementary Education degree pays off big time over the long run. The smaller salary up front is offset by summers off and a lucrative pension and free healthcare for life.

I got my degree in Thinkology from the University of Oz. 👓👈🏻 “The sum of the square root any two sides of a _right_ triangle is equal to that of the remaining side!”

I am a philosophy major and I was so hesitant to actually pursue it because of the money but then I realized how much I loved it and I would regret it if i did not major in it. I plan to go to law school too and apparently they have soft spots for philosophy majors. I definitely want get a PhD in philosophy someday. The numbers are scary yet it is my passion

Just to let yall know, she base this on financial statistics so even though your major is on the list; it doesn't mean those majors are useless. Some of these major enrich you with knowledge and wisdom. I rather be wise and poor, than rich and stupid(fool). That is just my preference. However, I figure for you to acquire such enrichment you sometimes need "money", connection, etc. Therefore it would probably be best to plan a strategy. Such as picking a college major that gives you that money and/or connections with people to become a continuous learner, explorer and/or man of discovery. Manifesting through experience and sharpening your skills/abilities.( In addition, get a major that pays well, can enable you to go to college again to get your true desirable major.)
