I have a bachelors of science in psychology with a minor in HR Management but I only got my degree for a career in Human Resources not to get into the psychology field. My degree has helped me tremendously in the HR field and I apply a lot of the stuff I learned in college to my job so if you are looking for a good career with a psychology degree, I would definitely recommend checking out HR.

But remember in a lot of fields including HR that EXPERIENCE TRUMPS ALL, if you can work or get internships while in college, DO IT, I worked all 4 years of college, so that 4 years of experience+a college degree got me a high paying job straight out of college.

College is supposed to be a return on investment, and these colleges make so much money off students who major in non-essential degrees, make sure your education is reliable and interesting. I've learned that the value of your education depends on the demand of the market. Fine arts and performing arts don't require an expensive education to verify your ability, it's better to utilize social media tools (Instagram)(Spotify) to express your content and build a portfolio, such as being a freelancing photographer. The entertainment industry will never disappear, you just have to find a plausible niche in the market for your artistic ability.

We’ve all heard the talk of “useless” college majors. But fortunately there is a way to leverage a useless degree. Supplement technical, business, or professional minors, certifications, licenses, or graduate degrees. Even if your major is under basket towel weaving if you have a few IT, data analyst is, business, HR, or finance certifications or minors you can have a good back up career. Law school, MBA, MD are good choices too. Some professional graduate programs are saturated and you would have to look at the employment outcomes of the programs like law and business. Also, some government jobs exist where simply a BA is required. Networking is also key. No major is “useless” in that you can’t succeed with it. It’s just the level of risk you are willing to take. Also, some employers may ask why they should hire you over someone with a vocational degree. If they do tell them that your education has given you a superior foundation that others with highly technical degrees.

College does not necessarily have to be expensive, and some people choose art over money. Respect to them.

The problem as I see it with these degrees is that they train people in something for which they must have an innate talent. If they have the innate talent, then the degree isn't worth the cost, and if they don't have the innate talent, then the degree is worthless. A person might not be particularly adept at being a plumber but if he can get through training then he can at least do a decent job of plumbing or else he would fail the training course, but with the arts, a person can get through the degree and be completely incompetent at his or her chosen art.

Im glad you put psychology on here, because it is a highly intellectual field that requires those who are deeply passionate about psychology, and are intelligent and self aware enough for it in regards to clinical psychology. I plan to be a therapist/psychologist, and a psychologist professor at a university. So yes! This field is not for those who want to just earn a lot of money fast, or a quick and easy field to graduate with. If you aren't passionate about understanding yourself and others, then leave psychology alone! -if your interest is the knowledge of psychology only, it's best to read and listen about depth psychology at your own time! Psychology is not a major to take if you aren't passionate; about helping others and yourself on a archeological/adventurous way. For the mind, heart and body are only for those who are sure they want to be psychologists!

I am sure that I want to be a psychologist, and I'll make sure to be the elite kind of psychologist! So that only a few are chosen for this career, for only a few elite level psychologists would help a many generations-much more than a beginner level psychologist who doesn't take full interest in selfishly helping others, whilst learning about themselves through the victories of successful therapy.

Do not take psychology if you don't deeply want to help others and learn about yourself in exploratory ways with helping others!

Glad you showed that psychology is not a casual field.. It frustrates me to see people use pop psychology, theory systems and cliches, and dare to call themselves “psychologists”.

I mean only pro-psychologists use these psychological system theories for secondary purposes in therapy. So yes! Psychology is not for casuals or those who stupify the field. It will only be a major that'll earn you 6 figures only of you have planned out the areas you want to build your career opon!
For me it's to be a psychologist, but also become a professor, author of psychology-plus, I plan to get into law and the policies of education via the philosophy major, and finally be a researcher of neuroscience. This is my solid plan. So unless you don't have a solid plan, don't enter psychology! It'll be a waste of time if you don't know what you are doing or aiming at and if you simply aren't passionate for it deeply.

Unlike many of these majors, psychology can be the best major of all! Because understanding existence, relations; of others and oneself, of development and personality- are what has brought us the modern era.

If psychology didn't exist (thankfully it does thanks to courageous individuals), our societies would have died before the peek of the industrial revolution.

Honestly, AI is changing the game so fast, its mind boggling, I can't even see Art as a "safe space" or even Writing. Maybe you should do a Top 10 jobs that will be replaced by AI.

I graduated 5 years ago with a bachelors in piano performance!! Definitely not the wisest choice, but I only came out of school with $8k in debt, which is almost paid off. (State school/lived with parents)

Definitely don't do music unless you are ok with working in education! Because there are jobs, but they're all in music education. I work with a lot of music directors who love what they do and have a good life. But I also work with music directors who only pursued music because they liked performing, but hate teaching, so now they're miserable and bitter.

I have an odd request. Would it be possible for you to do a video on a Welsh degree? It's quite popular here in Wales, but if it's out of your reach Don't worry!
