The frustrating thing I’ve noticed is the Black Friday prices for the mid range and higher I’m looking for are no better than ANY of the previous big sales events. I’d expect a better deal in November than the ‘24 new years January sales, prime day, or now Black Friday when we’re at end of year.

Fomo can you clarify something for us? You repeatedly discuss color luminance and saturation as a weakness of the G4. Is this weakness and color wash out evident in regular HDR content that we would see in streaming or console games? Or is the wash out only really evident in very highly graded stuff from Jennifer gala etc? Would be super helpful to hear your response please and thank you.

The 2023 QM8 is still right up here with any TVs from this year. A year ago I wouldn't have thought this but the newest beta test firmware is absolutely incredible. It feels twice as good as it was new out of the box. 2025 will be the year I'll be looking for a potentially big upgrade. Fingers crossed but if not the 2023 QM8 will keep me content. 😉

I’m with you FOMO, TVs need to get better in terms of shadow detail and accuracy near black—at least on their mid-to-premium TV models. Samsung is already stepping into it with QD-OLED and Sony with MiniLED. Mediatek’s new SoCs aren’t helping Sony in the OLED/QD-OLED department at all—I think it’s fair to assume that Sony lost a lot of money with the A95L (HDR/Dolby Vision and audio sync problems) and couldn’t afford to bring down its price.

There's no guarantee the tv you want will be cheaper than it is now next yr. I want a 83 in QD Oled but that tv will be very expensive at launch and won't be under $5k until next Oct. Then you'll be right back to wondering if you should wait.

I have 2012 46 inch LG TV. I want to upgrade to 65" TV at the right time. I mainly watch streaming movies, sports and news. My room is more wider so may require sharp viewing angle and mainly dark but with ceiling light may reflect on glass at some angle. Should I wait until 2025 or just go ahead this year? I am considering between S90D and Bravia 8. I do love Bravia 8's color over S90D. Is LG C4 better? Or I should just wait until next year?

The 98 inch UX has dropped in price to $4500. But ever since Best Buy has had it listed, the button to buy it shows sold out. I don’t think it has even come in stock yet. When is it going to be on sale? Do we have an actual release date?

A little help if you have the time.

I’m looking at a 77 inch S90D or a 77’ Bravia 8.

The latter is the only Sony at the size I’m interested in at the price range I’m considering ($3, 000). Most of the content I’m watching is a mix of 4K UHD and upscaled television shows via streaming services (Netflix, VUDU, Disney+). I game, only on console and specifically the PS5.

Is the XR processing on the Bravia 8 really worth passing on the brighter, more vibrant color the S90D has to offer?

Edited to add: Forgot to mention - The TV is being out in the master bedroom. A perfectly light controlled environment.

Furthermore. I don’t know if it matters, but I use a third gen. Apple TV as my streaming device.
