How to make Orgeat | PECAN SYRUP RECIPE

If you're going to make the Happy Balls Bourbon Flip, you need to the pecan syrup recipe! Pecan Orgeat, or Pecan Syrup, isn't just for cocktails- this nutty syrup is amazing on pancakes, waffles, ice cream... pretty much anything that you want to add syrup to. Trust me when I say that you probably want to just go ahead and double the recipe.

The word Orgeat (French for "Almond Syrup") may sound intimidating, but this couldn't be easier. Just grind up your favorite nuts (in this case, Pecan), let them steep in simple syrup overnight and boom. Beautiful, nutty, delicious syrup. The additions of orange blossom water, vanilla bean, and just a touch of bourbon take this pecan orgeat and send it over the edge.

PECAN ORGEAT RECIPE
2c Crushed Pecans
1.5c Sugar
1.25c Water
1tbs Orange Blossom Water
2oz Bourbon
1/2 Vanilla Bean

Soak crushed Pecans in bourbon. While pecans are soaking, bring sugar and water to a boil. Stir in vanilla bean (split & scraped), and orange blossom water. Then pour mixture over bourbon soaked pecans, and let sit 3 hours, up to overnight. Strain nuts through cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer, and voila. Pecan Orgeat.

happy balls last week playing with nuts this week...someone need to...have a drink 🤣. This recipe seems a lot simpler than I imagined, can't wait to try it out.

Looks devine! Curious if you tried it with a Demerara sugar? I would imagine that would lean into the flavor profile really well, or maybe it’s a step too far?

I know this may sound odd, but can you substitute the sugar for dates? Like using date syrup? I just don’t know the proportions for substitutions! Would appreciate it if you have a recommendation!
