New Dacia Duster (2021) engine problem and huge disappointment

Hi there people.
In this video I want to show you guys how something that supposed to be new and "healthy", in this case (Renault) Dacia Duster 2021 can ruin your dreams. For more then decade I was driving used cars, having no extra money to switch them and buy a new one. As great Henry Ford once said, answering a journalist question: "The best car is a new car". But, back then in Ford's time there was now Dacia on market.

Anyway, I finally spare some money and being tired of every month or two going to mechanics, electricians and so on to try to make "new" car from my 15-teen year old car and went to local Dacia dealer in Belgrade, Serbia.
I was interested to buy Dacia Duster, because some friends told me that it is a bast value for money. Ok, I said. I will by my first new car Dacia Duster, petrol version - 2021, got a credit from my bank, and wow I finally got my brand new car. There was no end to my happiness. I was really enjoying to drive Dacia Duster, fully equip, but after only few months my happiness began to crack slowly, but surely.

There was and strange engine problem, some kind of noise, like a cracking sound, only when revolution speed starts to drop when releasing gas. You can clearly see that in video. Very annoying.

Realized that this is out of the question a problem, a wasn't waiting at all and immediately went to my local Renault-Dacia seller to make a reclamation.

Seller, after thorough inspection, admitted that there is a problem and wrote the paper in which they claim they realize the problem and it is related to turbo charger. Further on, they wrote that they are waiting for Dacia factory to come with the solution and in in the meantime I can drive my Duster without worry. I believed them that they will find the solution, but I was fool. Seven months later - silence. Nobody call me, nobody wrote me anything to inform me. And I am very very very disappointed. I gave my money to have a new car, under warranty, and what can I do with that warranty if seller doesn't do anything.

My conclusion is, no mater how tempting Dacia prices are, just don't buy them. Wait couple moths or years to spare more money and buy a car brand that do care about their customers. This situation where I wait for seven months for who knows you who to respond, to solve the problem, is totally unacceptable. Dacia, Dacia, Dacia, you let me down huge!

Weird enough there is not a flood of videos about the 1.0 lpg engine on the internet. I just part exchanged my 66000 duster for a new jogger.
The only thing I do different is replacing the engine oil every 10000 km or 6 months.have not had a single issue and the engine oil was golden after each replacement. I think it may the receipt to keep it running. I now intend to drive the Jogger up to 225000. I’ll report back in 10 years.

This is how my 2021 sandero has sounded from new. 50k km now and still sounds the same, no issues.

In Poland we have the same with all Dacia models with 1.0 TCe engines. Authorized Service Stations detect the problem but are blocked by Renault. As of today, the only solution would be to replace the entire turbocharger, but there is no agreement on this from the local Renault representative office. We are starting a campaign to report these problems directly to Renault. It would be useful for the media to publicize the problem. If this does not help, who knows if the court will not be the last option, but hopefully some work is being done to create a repair kit. The problem is with the blow off valve control in the turbocharger. From the beginning, the gap on the control linkage is too large and increases with mileage.

This is why i got the 1.3L 4 cylinder. That engine is really good.

Na žalost, sistemski je problem (vezan je za novi 1.0)...Ja imam stepway-a iz prošle godine, koji pravi druge probleme (problem sa ABSom, sa filterom čestica, keder zadnjih vrata ispada, itd).Lepo zamišljen auto, loše odradjen.Da nije uvoznik možda sa NB?

Zanimljivo, izgleda da da postaje jasno zašto Dačia ima cenu koja ima. Svakalo, to ne opravdava neispravnost novog vozila koje je pod garancijom. Dužni su to da promene, a ovaj problem treba podeliti sa što više ljudi, jer će pojedinca lako "lerati", a sa grupom će to malo teže da ide. To je njihova greška, a cenu greške moraju oni da plate. I, to je tako.

1.0 engine will probably anway drive only 100.000 km and then they will say that the engine is "old" and what do you expect from a 3-cylinder, 1.0 engine, and they will be right. Problem is that there is a car manufacturer kartel. There are a couple of groups left, under their umbrella they have different brands but it is all the same parts, same designs.... Just like big brewing companies, sell 1000 brands but it is owned by one company. Consumer is there only to pay and shut up.

I have the same engine in Sandero. I applied an official dacia software at dealership and the noise is mostly gone now. My car has 20k km

I bought a Captura 2 1.0 tce lpg 2020 with 80, 000 km. The belt that goes over the water pump fell out, the pump broke.
Do you admit a factory error, because I don't know which engineer designed the pump that does not have limiters for the belt and that falls apart, are there many cases of this happening?

Welcome to the club. I have the diesel 4X4 and just after the warranty expired, the injectors fail one after the other, no fuel isdue, the piezoelectric sensor burnt, leaving me dead in the highway. Known Renault problem for over a decade, but they don't care for us 😢

My Jogger did this after 5000 miles. Needed new fuel pressure regulator and replacement flywheel.

I live in the UK and bought a new Dacia Jogger in March of this year which was delivered in late July. I had it 4 weeks before the coolant reservoir tank leaked and the car was recovered back to the dealer. 3 months later I still don’t have it back as they are waiting on parts. Dacia/Renault seems to have very serious issues with parts and their supply chain. They are not able to honour basic warranty claims. I don’t know about Serbian consumer law but in the UK you can reject the vehicle as unfit for purpose especially as it was new. I’d take legal advice and see if you can write to your finance company to get the car rejected and your money back.

Which engine is this? Is it the 1L tce (999cc) or the 1.3L?

Mine sounds a little like this. Doesn't bother me, to be honest. Mine's the BiFuel model.

Hab auch das Problem 1.3 TCE. Ich hab das Wastegate als Ursache festgestellt. Dacia wehrt sich.

Wat ik hoor is gewoon een TCE motor niet meer en niet minder dit is gewoon het geluid dat bij de motor hoort. heb met mijn vorige Logan TCE 0.9 175000 km gereden en mijn huidige Duster van 2022 heeft nu 75000 op de teller Wel is het belangrijk de juiste olie te gebruiken met de Renault RN17 FE specificatie

On the web I look a comment about other engine
on 1.4 Multiair Turbo 135PS with the same
problem I solved by unscrewing 2.5 rpm the
Wastegate shaft ring
lightly preloading the membrane of the
wastegate so as to keep the valve in motion
gas venting. Shaft and valve body
remain in tension and no longer vibrate
ensuring exhaust gas tightness. Not
exaggerate in the preload not to increase
too much working pressure of the turbine,
penalty of premature break, maximum from 2 to 4
turns of the bezel.
