Thank god for cars like this. Perfect antidote to the tech overloaded cookie cutter variants being churned out by manufacturers that seemed to have lost touch with a what a lot of people want - simple, affordable transport gives you everything you need and nothing you dont. Good job Dacia.

It won't be long until the penny drops with other manufacturers that people don't want tech for tech sake, they would rather have a much lower price to pay than pointless tech no one asked for.

I'd buy this over the MG for 1 reason... I'd rather have the French or Romanians have my money than the Chinese

This is the best car in the world, good reliable, honestly priced, cheap to run and repair if anything goes wrong or gets damaged. Dont think about it, Buy one you wont be disappointed.

I have a Dacia Logan (18) and a Dacia Duster (70) and I will continue to purchase Dacia's as I've never had an issue with either of them!

I have had a Duster for about 18 months, best car I have ever owned, is there a better 4x4 for the money?I like its looks, different to most SUV's and it drives well, much better than most reviewers will say. Oh the joys of simple motoring! I do get very irritated by the constant is there a better 4x4 for the money? to cars that are much more expensive, of course if you've just been driving a £40, 000 alternative, you will notice the difference! Scratchy plastics, what's that all about? Honestly, Dacia's, in general, are fine cars, not just value for money but reliable, easy to own, sensible and capable, if you think otherwise then you probably have never driven one!

What is this thing with car reviewers that they scratch the plastic on dashboards and look down on it? Its just a dashboard.. if you want to pay £20k more on your car and get a leather dashboard then great, but that doesn't really add anything to the car. Had one of these for 3 years now, the 150bhp version and its quick, very economical and you can fit anything in it!

I've had so many top end cars but bought a new Duster last year to get out of the company car tax trap. It was the Twenty Twenty edition TCE130 1.3 turbo petrol, its been fantastic, 47mpg on average, large carrying capacity, nice ride (on the soft side which suits me). Cant fault the car or the support from the dealer - 3 years servicing included for peanuts. Last workhorse I had as good as this was the original Fiat Doblo 2l diesel which did 100, 000 without a single issue. I looked at the MG ZS but sorry the quality was iffy and I'm not buying anything from China after the last two

Absolutely nice ride. I order my first one next week, 150 hp automatic. The main reason for the 3 points in safety are caused by the lack of modern driving assistant systems. The car shares platform with Renault Clio and Nissan Juke and since we don't hear of crushed families in these cars in masses I think I can live with it. I drove one two days ago, I come from an narrow, expensive and dead empty 118 I bmw, with seat textile and door rubber fading after 20, 000 km for twice the price. A stunning car in every corner, I will miss it, but two kids need more space now. And even with BMW background for ten years the Duster to me seems surprisingly good. Am looking forward to it, but I won't mind too much, the price difference will be spend on a classic Mazda MX 5 in one year.

Who cares about hard plastic? I’ve never understood that. Who spends all day caressing their car trim? 🙄

I had a 2016 Duster, from new, for 3 years. It was faultless throughout, nothing squeaked or rattled from that ‘built to a price’ interior, nothing fell off😀
It was comfortable, relaxing on the motorway and very predictable on the road.
I’ve owned expensive cars, middle priced cars and a few cheap ones.
None were as ‘satisfying’ to own as the Duster. Yes, not sophisticated, not full of electronics but utterly brilliant and dependable.
Actually, there was one fault. Main beam headlight bulb went on year 2.
I bought a simple bulb and was able to very easily replace the broken one in less than 2 minutes.
I can’t remember the last time I was able to do that.

Had my 1.3 Duster a couple of years now & it's by far the best car I've ever had in over 37 years of driving.

Why are there so few cars like this ?
All I want is a reliable, economical, capable, stripped down car.
The only extras I want are aircon, radio/cd/mp3 player. I could live with wind down windows.
If I want sat nav I have my smart phone. I don't need "infotainment".
I wonder how much of all the bells and whistles result in days in the dealers getting faults fixed or accidents caused by distractions.

Why do manufacturers think it safe for drivers to have to negotiate menus while driving ??

I think it’s great if you are looking for a comfortable, spacious, affordable car. I like the styling too.

every time a motoring mags review a budget car you compare it to something double its price ..why? ... its never going to be as good its not meant to be its meant to be affordable you might just as well compare it to a Rolls Royce

Just got a year old duster. Brilliant car which is a better drive than my old qashqai. Sure it’s not cutting edge but amazing value for the money. I really rate it as engine is very responsive even in eco mode. The Dacia dealer was really good and so far couldn’t be happier.

the thing that doesn't get a lot of coverage on these reviews is what that soft, overrated suspension means on country roads. I have had a Diesel Duster for 3 years now and will likely side-grade to an LPG version as it makes sense for me. I live in Cambridgeshire, where the roads are pitted and undulate wildly, especially in the fens; every car my wife and I have owned prior to the Duster has been through endless suspension struts and springs and has been horrible to drive on those roads. Most people wildly dodge around sunken road segments (or just give up and drive in the middle of the road) and cause huge hazards in the process. The duster suspension is able to deal with those conditions effectively and there is a certain irony when you consistently overtake performance cars that have drivers squealing in agony over the bumps. I've driven in other SUV style cars belonging to other people, and while they don't wallow so much in the corner, the setup still leaves you regretting the ride after the first few miles.
