It's the brand-new (plusher!) Dacia Duster! | Top Gear

The third-generation of a Top Gear favourite has definitely grown up - should we be worried? Why? Well, it looks a bit… too good, bluntly. A bit plush. A little too much equipment and swagger for what is supposed to be a cheap, no-nonsense, working hero.

But even though prices haven’t been announced as yet, Dacia insists that the Duster will continue to offer supreme value for money - and that it’ll be the most affordable car in the segment. Just how affordable is still up for grabs, but if it’s cheap enough, it’ll be a no-brainer. Just keep those prices down Dacia, OK?

In the meantime, take a look around the luxo-Duster with TG magazine's Tom Ford, and let us know what you think...

Reading so many positive comments here about the Duster makes me incredibly happy; it's like a dream come true. I'm one of the many engineers who've worked tirelessly for about 20 years for Dacia. The Duster wasn't a perfect car when it was first launched in 2009, and it's still not perfect now, but I'm proud to be part of its evolution. Seeing someone who drives a "fancy car" (Audi, Land Rover, BMW, Volvo) try a Duster, buy it, and give positive feedback was hard to imagine 15 years ago. Nowadays, more and more people are buying it, not just customers with fewer financial means. It's a significant achievement; the journey has been impressive. There are many models from famous brands that haven't reached this volume (more than 2 million units sold).
Thank you for the great video, for all the positive and constructive comments. I don't expect only positive feedback, but I'm pleased that ~ over 90% of the comments were positive, which is amazing. I feel like I can open a champagne to celebrate this… believe me, behind what you see - it s a very hard work, amazing dedicated people.. I left Dacia few years ago (for personal reasons), but it’s still like my family…

Honestly, it's amazing. The effort and love that has gone into this relatively affordable car is insane in 2023. Even with price tag aside, It's genuinely desirable. Well done Dacia! Also, amazing review Tom!

The best compliment I can give is that this is a brilliant package regardless of price. Should attract a whole new category of buyers. Well done Dacia! 👍

They nailed it, big time.
Interior and exterior is nicer designed than 99% of all other cars.

David Durand is the head of design in Dacia. Well done to him and his team! And I hope Renault keep the production in Romania, so our neighbors can be proud of a great product along with the Ford Puma.

In 2016 I bought a new Duster. Had it for 4 years and it was 100% faultless throughout that time; rattle and squeak free, reliable and really comfortable. I’ve had Volvo, Audi, Ford, Citroen, Peugeot, Alfa, Lancia, Renault, FIAT, VW amongst others over the years. In all honesty, the Duster was probably the best of the bunch as an overall package.
And then there’s the low price!
As predicted, they’re fast becoming Renault’s Skoda.
This looks like another fine product.

With so many manufacturers trying to force buyers into vehicles that they might not be able to afford, it is a breath of fresh air to see some manufacturers appreciate that value options are critical to their product mix. Pity that Dacia don't play on this side of the pond.

Honestly, why would you buy anything else in the UK today? It does everything you could ask for. Don't even think about performance, when did you actually drive a car fast for a long time and actually not get caught behind other traffic/speed limits? Fast driving in the UK, for more than a few minutes for a laugh just doesn't work now, get this and save a fortune, treat it as what cars today actually are- moving boxes for personal transport. Well done Dacia, this is actually a premium car and will be more reliable than any Audi. Great, interesting, well presented review by someone that wants to talk about the car, not themselves. Well done to you too for saying you actually like a simple, non flash car, wish more moto-reviewers would follow your lead.

We have one for five years now. We had a porsche and bmw m3 before. But when our children were born, I wanted a car that I do not mind when it gets a scratch or dent. It has been the most reliable and affordable car regarding fuel costs per kilomter, since we drive the LPG version. This also means that when we drive over the German autobahn for wintersports holiday or summer holiday we are actually one of the few driving 160 +km per hour on the autobahn. Quite funny to pass all kind of fast BMW's and Porsches in this car. We will get a more luxurious car again in a few years, but it has been absolutely great and probably will remain great for the time we still own it. If it is as good as the earlier model regarding reliability, fuel costs and maintenance costs, I can recommend it. Also since it is very light, with four good winter tyres you can drive it up any snowy or muddy mountain road and tyres will usually have to be replaced because of age, not because of there is no thread anymore (change front and rear axle each year).

I had always considered Dacia a “get what you pay for” car so avoided them like the plague. Well……I am convinced I have been wrong now going by the amount of pride and foresight of Dacia to produce a marvel like this. Never thought I would say this but I WILL be a proud owner of one immediately they become available in the UK.

I really love what Dacia are doing nowadays. Good specification, nice pricing and a very handsome design. As a long time supporter of lower-priced utility vehicles I think this promises to be a fantastic car. (PS I recently bought a Jogger and it's great!)

Love it! I just wish they'd do it with a 2.0 diesel but I'll test the hybrid.
