They built Temples and a City without roofs, so they could stay in the SUN all day in the desert. Which group of people would opt to be constantly in the sun?
This is a question of forensics. They have asked the questions for the story that makes the most sense. They don't have eye witnesses to interview so they use a combination of reasoning, evidence and common sense. The same type of reasoning used in courts.

They were husband and wife and more than likely would have had the same artist doing their art. That crashed up Akhenaten statue was supposedly found with that is obviously a lie. If you look at the other bust of Nefertiti it looks nothing like the one in Berlin. Those two bust depict two separate looking women. The bust is clearly fake. The idiots could have gotten away with it if they at least tried to make her look more like a African woman would look instead of putting a white woman face in
Light brown paint. But lies could be told alot easier back then. Now everyone has a smart phone

A destroyed bust of Akhenaten is hardly evidence. Most statues and busts and paintings of Akhenaten were defaced or destroyed because of Akhenaten's forcing the populace to change from worshiping many gods to one God, Aten. When Akhenaten had died, Egyptians happily went back to worshiping Amun and many other gods. They wiped Akhenaten from the books, changing his child's name from Tutankhaten to Tutankhamun.
