Closing spaces in the lower arch, such as in situations with agenesis of premolars, can be extremely challenging. The bone thickness on the mesial side of the molar is smaller than its buccolingual size.

One of them is that the third molar, in this case, must either be present or have a favorable eruption path because it will serve as the antagonist to the upper second molar. Another point is that there is a cost associated with this movement.
