whenever I'm getting anxious my heartbeat shoots up and it scares the hell out of me, nonstop thinking that I'm dying and I'm constantly scared.

If you're searched for this just like me, i want you to know i was just like you. The best thing i found helpful was to simply close my eyes and breathe. Focus on inhaling and exhaling. Try to set a number of seconds for inhaling (say 2 seconds) and for exhaling. It works. I had to come back and comment. I know what you are going through my friends.

I just want to ask. When you get an anxiety attack, does your stomach sink, you start sweating, you think of all the bad endings, and when your doing something fun you want to stop? Or is it just me :/

When I get panic attacks these are some things I do that I hope can help other people as well.

1. This doesn’t always work but for me when I’m in a crowded area and I feel my heart start to race all I do is take a seat. I close my eyes and I think of the forest. I imagine trees and pine cones and the smell of eucalyptus. It really helps.

2. Carry around lavender essential oil. Whenever I go anywhere I bring a container with a cotton ball soaked in lavender. When I have a feeling that I’m gonna start panicking I take it out and slowly breath it in. This is super affective.

3. If you’ve had panic attacks in the past take mental notes of what stopped the panic. I keep a note on my phone of stuff that has helped me get past an attack in the past and when I feel overwhelmed I glance at it. I include this one because I know that everybody has different remedies that have helped them in the past to calm down, and remembering these things will really impact you if you get another panic attack.


I know that a lot of people just want the panic attacks to stop forever and just never happen again, me included. The thing is I wish it were that easy but it’s not. The only way you can stop your panic attacks from happening ever again is to take precautions and identify what one feels like, how your body reacts to it, and what goes through your mind. If you identify it, it’ll be easier for you to stop one before it gets out of hand. For example I know that when I’m about to have a panic attack, my heart starts beating and I get light headed. Because I know this, now whenever I feel lightheaded or my heart starts racing, I’m able to calm down before the panic attack gets severe. If I hadn’t identified this about myself I would have no idea what to do when I felt it.

Thank you... thank you so much... seriously, thank you so much, it's 5.30am and I was crying uncontrollably and can't fall asleep and I'm having an anxiety attack and can't calm myself down, I'm still very worried and a bit crying about the stuff I'm thinking about, but this video really helps a lot, thank you buzzfeed.
