Antidepressants typically take several weeks of continuous use before they work.

If you need something quickly because of heightened anxiety, taking an extra dosage of an antidepressant will do nothing. However, taking an anxiety dosage of anti-anxiety medication [as prescribed by your physician] can work very well.
