In 69 I was24 and now I am 79. I still love the music and will till I leave this earth. Thank God for old time rock and roll. There will never be a better sound.

My daddy just passed away 2 weeks ago. My heart aches when I play this song because my daddy would pick me up in his Big grey Thunderbird when I was 6 year's old, put me on the arm rest seat in the middle, we would go to 7-11 & he would get a 6 pack of michelob beer, I would get a slurpee & he would crank up Jackson Brown "Running on Empty". I'm 47 years old now and I still cry like a little boy to be with daddy again in that car

Music is the closest thing we’ll ever get to having a time machine. This song brings me back to such an innocent time when I had absolutely no worries or cares in the world.

Classic. So blessed I was born during this creation of amazing music. No vulgar, no evilness, no huge media hype. Just music.

I remember at one of his shows he asked the crowd for a request one lady screamed "BROWN EYED GIRL!!" a man in the back screamed "YOU DUMB BROAD THAT'S VAN MORRISON" Jackson comes out and says "go easy on her man" then preceded to play brown eyed girl note for note it was awesome!!

I’m a 21 year old girl who grew up on Jackson Browne. I’ve been lucky enough to see him 3 times now. I used to listen to him every night before bedtime when I was little just like my dad did when he was little too. One of the greatest and my favorites of all time

I was born in 69 and grew up listening to Jackson, Eddie Money, Guess Who, Eagles, Wings, Bob Seeger, Beatles, Stones, Van Halen, Elton John, Billy Joel, Clapton, Boston, Aerosmith, Willie Nelson, BB King, Heart, Queen, Genesis, REO Speedwagon, CCR, Skynyrd, Bad Company, Allman Brothers, Buddy Guy, Foreigner, Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, America, Little River Band, Styx, AC⚡DC, Kansas, Journey, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, and so much more great music.
My parents were obviously big music fans of the 60s and 70s and it definitely rubbed off on me.

Like Bob Seager said "Today's music ain't got the same soul"

So Glad to be early Gen-X.

God Bless Everyone!

Running on empty a 20 year old Marine out of Marine Barracks Washington DC driving on that freeway into Virginia on an early Summer day. With the bright blue sky and sun, the whole world glowing that early summer green. The fresh warm air blowing on my face through the open window. Wearing my pressed uniform with that eagle, globe and anchor. I still remember that stretch of open road down that long slope seemed like I could see for a hundred miles. This song always takes me back to the 80’s. Everything was ahead of me and I was in a race to prove myself. Nothing was impossible and I had no fear with all the time in the world to get there. That’s where I am every time I hear this song. And I hope they play it at my funeral. Because I hope my love ones remember me the way this song reminds me of how I felt that day. Semper Fi
