I love this song. And this happens to be the greatest version ever recorded, at least to me. Everything about it, the backup vocals are amazing, his voice is amazing, and the energy is fantastic.
It so much reminds of a different time in America. I miss that time.

Calling all responsible adults- please play this at high volume to young people, and explain to them that this is real music.
You may be able to save one or two lives.

Hearing a band live is the real test of their talent. Love this song--No autotuning, no earpieces... just raw talent that hits like a tidal wave-that was the music of the 70's.

RIP David Lindley, what a tremendous player and huge part of Jackson Browne's sound

"I don't know where I'm running now, I'm just running on." Even the lyrics were brilliant and made sense. ❤

Doesn't this song just sum up the power and beauty of what rock music was like in the 70s? Awesome!!

I've rarely heard Jackson's vocals as gritty and raw as they are here. The energy is awesome. What a great performance!

Lindley is a master of the lap steel guitar, his performance is such an integral part of this song.

I saw him in 79 for the Running on Empty tour in Niagara Falls. I am 60 now and my job requires me to travel across the US. I always play this album first when I get in my car to leave home. There is not a better album to describe the life on the road.

My sister loved this song and would listen to it all the time when we were young. Every time I hear it I think of her. R.I.P Michelle I miss you.

RIP the great David Lindley. One of the all time best lap steel guitar players and a crucial part of early Jackson Browne records.

High five to the ‘60’s and ‘70’s. Born in ‘62, lot of good music memories.

17 years old and this song spoke to me. Graduated from high school in 1980, went in the military. Never went back to my small town. Being runnin’ ever since. From what I don’t know.
