I don't know how so many other diagnosticians can have so many other followers when this guy is obviously the genius of them all

This man is a genius. We must clone him😁

Bernie, I get the sense that you could diagnose more with a hammer and a test light than most techs could do with all the equipment in the world. As always, thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Theory plus experience = cool tricks!

Most times you can use the B1 and B2 Knock sensors to tell which bank the noise is on, then disable fuel injectors one at a time with scan tool looking for a change while listening with a stethoscope, very fast way to isolate piston noise.

Absolutely amazing...absorbing as much as I can right here.

Did not expect to learn that much on this video.

The right diagnostic tools and the knowledge of the tool and the unit under test make for a good diagnosis.

Bernie, I love your videos.

I have thought about noise/vibrations on and off for quite some time, in which an oscilloscope might be able to be used, so this is really nice to see this video.

I often thought that sounds make distinct frequencies or 'signatures' and should be able to differentiate them with a database. A water pump noise would make a different signature than loose torque converter bolts, and so on and so forth.

Lol, I am a simple cave man and still use a stethoscope (replacing my long ass screwdriver) and kill cylinders to find some engine noises.

Electric cars are here and our shop will go deep into this, as well as thermal imaging, to give us clues to potential problems that can become catastrophic in the future.

Thanks again Bernie.

Nice way of finding the source. I have a stethoscope that I use, but it’s hard at times to pinpoint a noise. Also the resolution on that bore scope is fantastic.
I just finished a Durango with a tick in the engine and the noise seemed to come from the passenger side. After I pulled intake and valve covers it was a broken timing chain rail on the driver side. I would have put money on a lifter on the passenger side.

This was a great one! Thanks for sharing!

Notice how he said the v6 3.5l ecoboost and not the 5.0l. The v8 coyote 5.0l is reliable, the smaller v6 twin turbos are not.

Mind blown! Like a EKG for a engine! Brilliant

Great video and amazing diagnostic tool! Although a length of wooden dowel held to your ear and placed at different places on the engine would narrow the area down in a few seconds.

"This is some type of a piston problem"
I don't think there's anything Bernie hasn't seen before. 🤷‍♂️

ATS Game. Every time Bernie fails to move his cursor with his finger (almost every time) and has to reach for the pen, you have to take a shot of your favorite hard liquor. Good luck friends.
