Willis: “The automobile?”……….funny how he asks it sarcastically and tries to act naively at the same time.

That jaguar was pretty fancy and advanced technology for 1992. I remember driving one as a valet it was hard to steer though.

Honestly popping the balloon was a stupid idea.

I'd love to have seen Nuwanda pull this prank on Mr. Nolan.

Trask isn’t sending that fine foot soldier back to Oregon, now call that beautiful red haired teacher Colonel Slade. 📞

The good thing about Scent of a Woman was that it was against snitching. But unfortunately today all kids are snitches.

They showed their true colors hanging Charlie out to dry, but you have to admit that was a great prank.

On a separate note, that is one compressed air hose they ran from the radio room to the top of the lamppost.

Regardless of whether you think Trask deserved any of this, there was no good reason for those students to pull that prank. If my friends did something like that I would be so shocked and appalled I wouldn’t try to cover up anything. Getting kicked out of Baird seems like a fitting punishment. I understand if Charlie pled the fifth because he didn’t want to lose his friends, but if I were him I would be seriously reconsidering whether I should be friends with those people at all.

I’m reminded of the episode of The Office in which Dwight, the most legalistic of all the employees, decides to help Michael falsify his drug test because his heart unexpectedly wins out over his devotion to maintaining order. That’s the kind of situation where choosing not to snitch makes sense: someone does something semi-accidentally that breaks a technical rule with a disproportionately severe punishment and you decide to stick your neck out to save them because you believe in mercy and second chances. It’s a whole other thing when your friends go and do something so outrageously uncalled for without a hint of remorse and you have to decide whether your loyalty to them is more important to you than your integrity.

Had this film’s writers written Charlie’s friend group to be much more strongly bonded like they were his brothers or something and also written a different prank or something more necessary but still illegal, then the dilemma would have been a lot harder and Charlie’s silence would’ve been a lot more understandable. If the movie’s thesis was meant to be that there’s no dishonor in choosing to protect your friends from consequences they deserve, they failed to get that across in a way that feels right. It feels more like this movie praises people like Pacino’s character for being unruly and needlessly offensive but still having a heart as if that makes it ok. It portrays rule-followers as lame and weak while depicting rule-breakers as better than them in every way that matters. It uses the fact that ne’er-do-wells still have hearts to argue that that makes them immune to the consequences of their actions.

This movie should have ended after about five minutes. Simms had no reason to not tell Trask what he saw. Those three asshole pranksters needed to be caught.

Well, to me, this depends on what the liquid is. If it's just something that washes off, it's a prank, albeit going too far, I'd definitely say it's completely unjust to punish someone for "not ratting" or whatever. If that was paint though, no way is that OK, and I think at that point you're dealing with a crime not a prank.

There is no honor among thieves or criminals. In the film, Charlie contemplates losing everything by not telling the truth. He is willing to sacrifice his future education for a group of spoiled prep school pranksters who aren't even his friends. Very naive and foolish! Remember to tell the truth and never lie for the benefit of troublemakers.
