On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

The flares on a Harrier serve a dual purpose:
1. Decoy IR-guided missiles
2. Taunt pilots who got shot down by a Harrier

The gun doesn't work with the nozzles down etc as bleed air that would be used to power the gun is used instead for the puffer nozzles / reaction control system situated in the nose, tail and wingtips.

The missile dodges in this series were insane. I'd be so mad

Remember the Harrier vs Sky Hawk when the 2 missiles hit each other. You thought when you went through smoke you would see A-4 parts on fire. Instead the A-4 came through in one piece. Your reaction was funny. I enjoy your Harrier vids.

How can anyone think the Harrier is ugly. She’s one of the coolest looking jets of all time!

G/S - Like you, the Harrier was my first DCS purchase (along with the MiG-21), primarily because back in the early 1990s, I wanted to join the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm and fly Harriers. I ended up porting over to space technology but so this was the closest I ever got to flying it. It's not the same - but still. It's a legendary aircraft, especially if you consider who in the Falklands, the Royal Navy were totally outnumbered by all types of Argentinian aircraft.

I also love the cockpit of the Harrier. So neat and symmetrical, with a big airy canopy. Doesn't feel claustrophobic.

You mentioned the X-32 being the ugliest plane of all. Fun piece of history: During the JSF program, the competing crews gave each of their opposing team's planes a nickname. The F-35 got the nickname "Fat Amy" due to its ever increasing weight and cost. In return, The X-32 got the nickname "Monica" due to that gaping air intake reminiscent of a presidential intern.

Hey GS, would love to see a video that demonstrates the importance of flares and chaff and what fights would look like without them. I’ve always been curious what dogfights or BVR combat would look like with and without them

The Boeing X-32 was a prototype competitor to the F-35 program.

So many people don't know the true potential of a Harrier till they fight one flown by someone who loves her. She will do amazing things for you. And she's beautiful, so whats not to love? 🤣

That was the most badass missile evasion yet! When the Harrier does something, it makes it look dramatic and good.

I was fascinated with the harrier as a kid. to be honest I wasn’t expecting it to hold up as well as it did.

Feels like one of the tougher fights you set yourself up with. Great flying!

If you flare while rolling, it helps divert the missiles a lot. I did that last night on DCS, and it made 2 missiles miss my plane. Then, when I stopped rolling while flaring, I got hit. There's something about that maneuver of flaring while rolling that helps dodge missiles. I saw Maverick do that in Top Gun 2 and he also made a missile miss.

I watched a pair of Harriers bounce a pair of Phantoms over the Tay Valley in Scotland and realised why they use the term Bounce! They got real close.

The Harrier in all forms is a more than capable dogfighter. Does not surprise me that it did well against a Flanker.

I love these vids so much that I literally had just prayed you'd premier another one today minutes before it appeared in my feed! This outcome of this one was quite the surprise! Thank you for keeping these coming so regularly.
