My Dad was a Golden Glove champ when he was a kid.
He got terminal illness, when I was a 10 year old girl, he would not live till I was grown, so Dad taught me how to throw a punch for my safety.
I am a 70 year old now but I can still throw a good punch, and have fond memories of those lessons.

When my grandpa was in the US Coast Guard in WWII he met Heavyweight Champ Jack Dempsey. He taught him the same technique except he added to aim for the nose. Jack said that when you hit the nose it breaks, gushes blood and the eyes water and possibly swelling closed. I have to say that it totally works!

I was, one time, the kick guy.
I wasn't drunk. I got chased (because a shitty friend stole a guy's bike), and was so out of breath, I only had the wind for one kick. I whiffed it, and just gave up.
Thankfully, the more level headed of the guys chasing me told them not to kick my ass, left me off with a warning, as I wasn't the actual thief in the situation.
