Islam and the Star of David - What is the real Jewish symbol?

The Star is David or Magen David as a six point star isn't mentioned anywhere in the Bible or the Rabbinic canonical literature.

The "Star of David" was first created in India and is a part of the worship of Padma Lakshmi.

Later it was used as a decoration throughout the Roman Empire. You can find Stars of Davids in ancient Jewish synagogues - but as a simple decoration, with no spiritual or religious meanings (for example - in Capernaum by the Sea of Galilee). You can also find a Star of David in Roman Villas (Ein Yael, Jerusalem), Byzantine Churches (Shiloh), and ancient Mosques (Ramla).

Stars of David started to be associated with Jews only in the last few centuries, starting from Central Europe (Prague), and in the 19th century, the Zionist Movement embraced it. Some people will suggest that the Jewish Kabbalists used it before that, in medieval periods, and indeed you can find manuscripts that used it, yet it is just one of many symbols used by Kabbalists).

The Muslim buildings in this video are original Maluk and Ottoman buildings that didn't exist before the 13-19th century, and are not remains of Jewish buildings or second use of buildings that were built by Jews. The Star of David is known in Islamic tradition as "The Seal of Solomon".

The ancient and original symbol of Israel, without a doubt, is the Menorah - starting from the days of Moses of blessed memory (Exodus 25). The Menorah is mentioned many times in the Bible (Zechariah 4- my personal favorite) and the rabbinical literature. Yet Star of David/Shield of David (Magen David) isn't.

People in comments said islam was a new religion. What they don't that Muhammad PBUH is just one of the islamic prophet. That means there are many prophet before Him and it dates back to Adam PBUH. So islam dates back as far as the first human Adam PBUH. It's just that Muhammad PBUH revealed the Holy Quran. Other prophets like Daud (David) PBUH, Musa (Moses) PBUH, and Isa (Jesus) PBUH revealed other holy books, Taurah, Zabur, and Injeel respectively. And people at that time misinterpret those books and created new religion.

Yeah but buddy, Islam has no symbols. There is no page or verse in any Islamic scripture. Talking about the moon and star as a symbol. This is well known.

The earliest uses of the Star of David in Jewish culture had little to do with religion. According to historian Alec Mishory, the star was originally used by Jewish printers to mark their ancestry, decorate their books and to differentiate themselves from their competitors

It’s only became a “Jewish symbol” in Prague in 1648. Back then even the ottomans used this symbol as well. It’s similar to how swastika symbol was taken from Hinduism, and somehow the world recognized it as the “Nazi symbol”

Yes, the symbol of the Jews is the Menorah, but it is mainly religious. The symbol of the Hebrews or Israelites is the Star of David which was the symbol on the shield of King David and that is why it is called in Hebrew Magen David (or Shield of David)

This is because many of these buildings were build from old jewish relics. Star of Davis was and will remain a cardinal symbol of Judism.

"It is well known that the earliest Jewish use of the Star of David was as the seal of Joshua Ben Asayahu found in Sidon (Second Temple period, 6th century B.C.E.) and then as a carved decoration in a synagogue frieze on fourth-century synagogue at Capernaum (Kfar Nachum) in Israel."

That’s because it was built by the Jews before the Ottoman Empire. Not the mosque but the ancient walls where the temple used to be before it was destroyed

The Star of David is in the city of Jerusalem because it was and still is a Jewish City. Islam was founded based on Judaism and Christian beliefs 600AD approximately

Islam has no symbol. There is only Allah, and he can't be seen. 👍

The six pointed star traces back to pagan times, that's why it's everywhere.

It’s the seal of Solomon… it was adopted by Muslims and Jews, but it is Jewish, and the first reference to it predates the invention of Islam by close to five hundred years.
