Great video, Father Casey! I am currently converting to catholicism in a region of Ukraine where it's uncommon, and i thank God for the work He has done through you. Please pray for our country!

If the life of Christ on Earth has taught me anything it is that the percentage of people who will recognize any prophecized events as they happen will be so close to zero as to make those who do statistically insignificant. As for me, I hold to Christ's word that no man knows the hour, and will therefore spend no time wondering if we are in what stage of this process.

I am an evangelical Protestant, and I think your analysis of the second coming makes sense. The whole rapture business was invented by a 19th Century theologian/evangelist named John Nelson Darby.

Father Casey, please, pray for me. I just talked to my aunt about being a Catechist. She is going to talk to her parish secretary to see if I can have an opportunity. I feel that the time has come for me to act like a member of the Church for something. I am tired of being comfortable with my Faith.

Thank you Father Cole for this enlightening presentation into the various beliefs surrounding eschatology, and specifically the Rapture. What I find particularly disturbing about the premillennial view of the End Times is that it has engendered people to support foreign policies which they believe will expedite the process. It has encouraged people to spend their time looking for signs and wonders that point to Jesus' imminent return, instead of doing what they should be doing, which is living out the truth of the Gospel. While all this talk about the apocalypse is interesting, people should be more concerned with living lives that reflect holiness, rather than fixating on how an age of holiness will be ushered in through some series of cataclysmic events.

Thank you. As a pastor and biblical scholar I fight this crowd regularly, trying to draw their attention to the large discrepancies between their doctrines (in particular Darbyism) and the Scriptures. I have appreciated the mostly biblical doctrines of the Catholic Church on these matters, and do realize that they are also informed by extra-biblical traditions. Knowing this sourcing I do not say anything against them. And besides, Protestantism is the biggest monster in the room at this point! Thank you for carefully espousing the differences between Catholic doctrine and the Protestant perspectives.

Let me say something that may surprise most Catholics: In my experience as an evangelical pastor, about 2/3 of evangelical clergy DO NOT hold to a pre-tribulation view of the rapture - for all of the reasons Fr Casey gave. It is not really supported in Scripture - in which there is only one coming of Christ. In at least 1700 years of searching the Scriptures, no one saw it there, it was not even a minority viewpoint. Furthermore, the history of the doctrine I was taught is that it began with a "revelation" to a 13 year old Scottish girl in 1830 - not even with someone searching the Scriptures and somehow finding it there after 1800

It is also interesting that the whole premise of the 'Left Behind" series is what? Christians during the tribulation! If the Lord wants to continue evangelizing during the tribulation, why would He remove the church????

FYI, I have not kept me views to myself - I have taught them in my ministry.

In my all cradle Catholic family, in this predominantly Catholic society, we only heard about Rapture theology when a cousin converted to Baptist, after her bro migrated to the US and became staunched Baptist himself. They kept on attacking us about our faith and telling us that we will not be saved because we did not "accept Jesus as our personal Lord & savior". We were always confused by their words because even if we studied in Catholic schools for years, these are new concepts for us.
Anyways, come pandemic, she is extremely anxious about the Rapture because in our family, she is the only one left among those who "accepted Jesus as her personal Lord & savior" and did not receive the "mark of the beast". According to her, her bro with his family will not Rapture because even if they "accepted Jesus as their personal Lord and savior", they received the "mark of the beast".
Some of us, her Catholic Church active cousins, who did not receive the "mark of the beast" will not Rapture too, because we did not "accept Jesus as our personal Lord and savior".
She is busy preparing for her Rapture, that she became a butt of a joke in the family because after months, she wasn't sucked to heavens yet. During parties, cousins will ask her, "Why are you still here? God did not favor you?" And everybody will laugh at her.
Praying this pride she has been keeping for years will wane and she will soon realize and be enraptured by the many gifts the Church and her loving and accepting Catholic family gave to her.

Very nicely and precisely explained. One thing not elaborated on in your video is that the teaching of the Rapture was very much a 19th Century invention, pushed even further by the onset and aftermath of the American Civil War. Splinter groups and separatist groups like that founded by the Millerites, Charles Taze Russell and others emphasized the Rapture and The Book of Revelation heavily if not almost exclusively. Thanks for having posted this and all your discussions. Very helpful and informative. Much appreciated!

He is coming every hour of the day undercover, appearing as bread and wine. We but have to receive after the showers of reconciliation, penance then nourishment ❤

Postmillenium: The End is Upon Us! But when? Premillenium: The End is Upon Us! Right Now! ❤😂 Amillenium: God the Father decides when God the Son comes. WE WAIT. Be patient. And keep the FAITH in the meantime.

Thank you for the clarity, Your Reverence. This was part of a discussion I had with an Evangelical friend and we agreed these teachings are common to non-Catholic groups, and it's the order that is debatable. All I know is the General Bodily Resurrection expressed in the Creeds. It's also surprising how some pre-trib and premillenials base it on a fairly recent interpretation.

Also, my standard is what the Angels at the Ascension that He will "return as He went" (hence praying eastward towards the Mount of Olives from Jerusalem's perspective, so it's not exactly "secret". Jesus Himself also said only God the Father knows the precise time, so anyone – including some Catholic visionaries – who state a specific arrival date for Jesus is automatically spreading falsehood.

Thank you - I saw the rapid growth of the "Rapture" theory when Hal Lindsay published his book "The Late Great Planet Earth" in late 60's or early 70's
