Best tip we had for Rome: book the early morning tour of Vatican City. We used City Wonders and it was worth every penny. Had the Sistine Chapel practically to ourselves. Generally all tours are amazing and like Matt says, you might learn something.

Love all your tips! I went to Rome in 2006 and did just about everything you’ve listed! It’s such a great food city and after a few days I stopped figuring out what to eat and using a mix of quasi-Italian and gestures ordered whatever looked good in front of other diners or if I was lucky to have a friendly waiter (and they loved the fact I tried to speak Italian - got a free dessert once probably because of it) I’d leave it up to him. And another thing I did was to not limit myself to three meals a day. I had four or five meals depending on what restaurants I saw on my aimless wanderings. And didn’t gain any weight! I’m sure it was from all the walking. I never saw any tourist destination except on the day before I was to leave I stumbled onto a long line of people waiting to get into the Vatican so I thought what the heck might as well see one tourist trap. Other than that it was just following my nose. I didn’t find the Romans to be particularly friendly (2000 years of tourism will do that) and I had several encounters with thieves and pickpockets (part of the Roman experience) but I’d go back again the first chance I get. Love your channel and subscribed. Any chance you’d do a video from Sydney? It’s my home town and I think you’d really like it. It’s not Fargo!
