Does smoking cause swelling of Tonsil? - Dr. Sriram Nathan

Now smoking has got no direct link to a tonsil-or swelling because smoking is carcinogenic and it causes so many other cancers of throat and oral cavity and it has got other properties which obviously not good for your body but direct connection to a tonsillor swelling is not seen. We have some swellings like lymphoma which can happen in tonsils where one of the tonsils gets enlarged and there maybe indirect link to smoking. But in any case we have seen that some cancers like squamous cell carcinoma, Cancers which are affecting the oral cavity or the pharynx they may spread on to the tonsil and then we have a patient presenting with throat swelling. But specifically tonsils swelling which is secondary to infection may not be related to smoking. In any case is better to avoid smoking when you have any throat problem.

I remember 2 years ago before starting to vape and quit smoking, I use to have a regular recurrence of severe tonsilitis. It makes me very sick when swollen. After quitting smoke and starting vaping, I no longer have the problem of recurrence. Like literally it's been years since I had my last tonsilitis occurrence. 2 years clean from cigarette.

I don't know if Dr. Sriram Nathan will read this. But, what about vaping cannabis, like Brassknuckelss or Rove for example. Will it make the tonsils swollen? And can i vape after tonsil removal? During recovery to be specific. It just hurts and i wanted to see if i could still enjoy my Thc.

this is a question, my tonsils has are pink all the time, but are large. i have gerd, but its been checked numberous times its not cancer, or anything. blood test after blood test.

i may have allergic rhintis, i don t smoke myself, im arpund it alot.

Sir my one side tonsil is swollen for months or years. Never increase in size or cause any pain or never obstruct my eating drinking. But I have quit smoking. 4 months. Since I know this issue. ENT did nasoendoscopy and said better to remove tonsils. Also improves breathing stop snoring issue and also removed tissue can test for cancer or not under microscope in lab.
The surgery under general anesthesia. I'm 35. Been smoking drinking since I was 16 or even 14 not sure. I'm now obese 108kg. Symptoms so far whole body itchiness 1 month plus. And sore throat happens rarely but if it is there stays for less than 5 days to 14 days. A 2 weeks course of antibiotics didnt stop one side swollen tonsil. Then one white dot appeared. Then it went off. Now and then facing tongue issue especially when I drink alcohol. Smoking completely stopped.

Why I'm not going for surgery is first thing I already have breathing issue
And also obese 108kg.

Hope for my case I should be okay.

And also recently 2 kids less than 8 years old immediately passed away during this Tonsillectomy surgery.
