I never fully explored this dialogue tree, so I had always just assumed that Eve was a personal sexbot for Liam, not a wife to Alan. And this explained why Liam was so sympathetic to synths. I suppose it still does, just in a slightly different way.

It's sort of sad at it's core... She wants to be so much more, but she's basically trapped being the idealized reincarnation of his wife... There's something just so inherently wrong about this on so many levels. She never really has a choice in it.

I think it would be cool if a rogue scientist tried to make fertile synths in order to bridge humans and synths together.
And the twist is the scientist himself is a synth with no free will and no choice but to conduct research.
It could go like this: an institute scientist wants to let synths be equal after a crisis of conscience. He knows hell be killed if he just leaves so he makes a synth of himself with all his skills and knowledge and memory and commits suicide while the synth doctor escapes. The synth then has no choice thanks to his programming to try to make fertile synths

Scenes like this is why I really don't get the fandom debate about whether or not the synths are "really sentient" or just approximate it through programming, with all the synth characters and scenes like this it's PRETTY clear the developers intended it to be obvious that the synths are fully sentient .
