I thought about this while playing MMOs and concluded that if you intend to stare at a character for hundreds of hours, you want to enjoy looking at them, so some guys tend to play cute girls.

Cause then picking the female character is a speedrunning strategy
Cause your characters dad sends you 500 coins in the mail but if you play as a male character you character's mom sends you cookies instead

There's also the reason of 3rd person games where the camera is floating behind your character for the whole game. If I have to stare at someone's backside....
