I use that Gutermann hand quilting thread for hand piecing, too! It never breaks or frays like standard thread. I can’t use sharps needles, though. I get hand quilting needles in about a size 10 or 11. Then I use those for quilting and for piecing.

I am hand quilting and, because I’m going to add a last border which I will bring forward for my binding, and having my batting much bigger, just yesterday thought that I will fold, cover the batting with the extra backing, and tack it down.
