I commented on another of your videos that I would NOT be making any wonky houses. However, it turns out, my resolve cannot withstand the charm factor you brought to the concept. I have not only made three houses so far, but I made a block with three rather questionable cabanas! Yes, I took your idea and pieced the bejeebers out of it -- not in the most successful way, but it is what it is. Now, I find myself waking up in the middle of the night wondering how many vehicles I can glean from my stash! Who am I?

I watch tons of quilting tutorials on YouTube, as I’m sure thousands of others do…however you really “stand out” and are definitely at the top of the list. I love your video out takes, your ease in teaching and your overall personality. You’re like the best friend or best neighbor kinda person! Always look forward to any tutorial from you, no matter the project.

I love hand quilting! When I was doing bedside nursing I noticed that when I was hand quilting at home I was better at putting in IVs at work! Haha!

I have hand quilted all my quilts since 1992 and would not do it any other way. Greetings from New Zealand.

As usual, you provide excellent tutorials and no stress sewing. I’m thankful actually that you quilt without using a long arm. Beautiful quilt.

Thank you. I am in the process of repairing my childhood quilt, which was never actually quilted. It just had yarn every so often tied off through the layers. It worked well, until it didn't. I am hand stitching the replacement blocks, and I'd like to hand quilt it. I am hoping by doing that, it will last many more years to come. By the way, while I have been sewing for almost 3 decades, I have never made a quilt, so I appreciate you breaking this down for me.

When I first learned quilting, I learned only learned hand quilting. I bit off more than I could chew. My first quilt was a queen size and doing it on my own I didn’t know anything about a quarter inch seam, squaring up the squares. I had my last child before it was sandwiched. Needless to say life got in the way of hand quilting. But I would volunteer at our towns grist mill every third Saturday of the month. It took me 15 years to finish it. But it’s mine and I love it.

I am so very Happy I stumbled upon your UTube channel. It’s so wonderful. And your a Military Wife and Mother. Actually WE do everything. I ordered your Wonky House booklet and waiting for that to come in and I found the American Glorious Quilts book on EBay and that arrived yesterday. Such a world of information in there. I really like how you explain quilting to us. You’re So So Real. I am going to try the Babtist Fan stitch. I also to EPP. And absolutely love quilting. I totally have those lights. My kids call them my old lady lights😂 but they will get them for me so they can turn off the lights for movies. I am totally enjoying hand stitching. Not just quilts. I've been doing lots of slow stitch projects

Thank you for this! I get so 'in my head' about making perfect, tiny stitches and then end up too scared to work on the quilt. Your video and the 'just do it, you'll be great' approach has motivated me to get back to hand-quilting my hibernating quilt project tonight! 🥰

Excellent tutorial! I have never hand-quilted any of my projects. So, I am going to make a wall hanging for my sewing room, and I will hand quilt it so that I can gain some experience. My husband's grandmother made quilts. She passed away several years ago, but I have the last quilt that she ever made, and I treasure it. All of her quilts were bed sized, and she hand quilted them all. She used a frame that lowered from the ceiling. It made the quilting process easier for her. Thank you for sharing your talent and wisdom with us all! 🪡🪡🧵

Lovely! Great video. I found that running my thread through bee's wax helps keep the knots out. I also thread several needles at once so I stay in the right mindset when quilting. All the best to you❤

I am absolutely terrible at machine quilting (mostly because I just don't have the time to practice), and hand quilting "needs" a frame or hoop, or so I thought.
You have completely inspired me to try hand quilting this way. Now I just need to remind myself the ancestors will NOT come for my head if it isn't "perfect." Thanks SO much Nikki!

Thank you so much.
I hand quilted a lap quilt in about 1998 and it was very enjoyable.

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I have been discouraged from hand quilting my entire life. Because a) I don't have a frame b) I don't make small enough stitches, and mostly, c) I honestly didn't know where to start. I AM HAND QUILTING! I went back to watch the quilt sandwich tute to get going & that was a revelation as well! Did I say Thank You?!

Im a newbie at quilting at 65, but my mom quilted by hand. She used embroidery thread, all 6 strands. She used yarn tieing and would actually embroidery around each quilt square or whatever design. She also appliqued. Because of those memories my first thought when I saw your video making the houses quilt top was that I would embroider around each house, car, etc., and that would be enough quilting to hold all 3 layers. As you said it is addicting.
