Hands down one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history.

Keir Dullea's performance in this scene is top notch. You can see the terror in Dave's eyes escalating while he struggles to keep his composure. A perfect example for actors that less is more.

For being filmed in 1968 this movie held up really well it looks almost modern I would actually think this was made in 2001

Honestly this G-rated movie is a lot scarier and unsettling than most horror movies…

And fun fact, Anthony Hopkins’ performance as Hannibal Lecter was influenced Douglas Rain’s performance as HAL-9000 :)

That line is more iconic than "Beam me up Scottie" and "He's dead Jim" combined.

Nice clip. Credit where due: The voice of HAL is splendid, done by the great Shakespearean actor Douglas Rain. As the story was told, one of Kubrick's great influences was a Canadian documentary called "Universe" which was a run-down of the planets as seen from a large observatory. Rain narrated it. Kubrick tried several other guys to play HAL but he kept coming back to Rain's voice in "Universe" and finally decided he could do no better. Stanley was right! Douglas Rain RIP.
