What are the best books you've read this quarter?

I absolutely hated dystopian books until I started reading them with women authors. It's made all the difference, and now I really enjoy the genre

I have learned this year that DNFing is self care, and it has made my reading so much better too!
Legends & Lattes is so adorable!

I've read 23 books in the last quarter. Quite a few of them I really loved. I read Salem's Lot for the first time and I wonder what took me so long! Discovered T.Kingfisher and read What Moves the Dead, Nettle and Bone, and The Twisted ones by them. I Plan on reading all of their back catalog I love the writing style so much! I had a great reading Quarter and Year really. I added The Book of the Unnamed Midwife to my TBR. thanks for the recommendation!

It makes me happy that you loved Book of the Unnamed Midwife cos it’s a fave of mine too & nobody talks about it!! I’ve read the companion sequels by the author and they didn’t hit the same for me. I really want other dystopians like Midwife! 💙

I really enjoyed Legends and Lattes as well and I have downloaded Razorblade Tears after your recommendation. I have read 98 books out of 120 so far this year.

I read Beach Read last year and enjoyed it. Since you also enjoyed it, you might like books by Mhairi McFarlane. They are romances, but they also deal with serious topics, like Beach Read did with grief. If you’re in the mood to read a romance, I recommend Just Last Night, Mad About You or If I Never Met You by this author. Her older ones are good as well, but I think the writing is stronger in her newer books. They are set in England and I enjoy the slang and learning little things about the culture.

100% agree about Emily Henry! Read 3 of her books this year and loved all of them 💜

Also had my friend buy Octavia E Butler books, can’t wait to get my hands on them next month! We have ugly covers here LOL

Just finished Station Eleven! It was brilliant! And seeing artists persevere through all the shit was just brilliant because that is EXACTLY what they would do. It was just so well put together, I want everyone to read it. (In relation to post apocalyptic by women)

Hi Emily. I went through a terrible reading slump last year and the beginning of this year, so I did not read anything from January to the end of May. During summer vacation, I read about 50 books. And this was mostly just because I was able to listen to a lot of audiobooks as I took long walks with my dog.

Razor blade tears was great! Definitely reads like an action film which was different. I loved beach read also. It ends with us, what a great book. Don’t want to spoil it! 20th century ghosts is a great horror anthology and great to read for October.
