Even as someone who is mostly hypertrophy focused, I do not understand how so many lifters don’t prioritize getting good at pull-ups. So much more bang for your buck than any other vertical pull. Some variation is always my first or second back exercise. Plus you look cooler when you’re one of the few guys in the gym adding plates to your bodyweight movements 😅

You’re a living proof of my own way of thinking, which is: if you do something long and smart enough, progress is inevitable.

I couldn't do a single pull-up in my family, got laughed at that as well.
Learned a lot about programming and overall mindset to approach anything in life from Alex, an year later I pulled 90 pounds and that made everything shut up. It shows with enough consistency and proper training one can accomplish a lot. Thank you Alex for teaching us that, and for always breaking the perceived limitations set by people! Congratulations on the 4-plates!!!

I’m microloading 0.2lbs weighted pull-ups (down from 0.6 a couple years ago), and it’s helped me progress steadily far beyond what I thought was my natural potential. I use a combination of micro plates and literally drinking water after weighing myself.
Even my current snails pace of 0.2lbs twice a weeks adds up to an amazing 20lbs a year.

Alex, I've got to say that you have taught me a lot of things, but one of the most influential in my training has to be to start doing weighted pull ups. I'm currently 16, and a couple months ago I did a 55 lb 1RM on the weighted pull up. Not much, yeah, but a year ago I couldn't do a single one, weighted or not. I'm really thankfull that I started doing them so early in my life, cause now I can't imagine what I'll be doing at 26. At least 3 plates, if not more. Thank you Alex, you are a true inspiration and an priceless piece to this community.

The coolest thing is that you had a bit more in the tank as well

The gains that come from doing weighted pulls + deadlifts is INSANE. I bought a weight vest a year ago and focused on weighted pulls and deadlifts and boy or boy I'm proud of how strong I'm pulling atm. Started with 25kg 1rpm 160kg deadlift, now on 37kg 1rpm and 250kg deadlift. Aesthetically speaking I'm in love with how wide and dense my back is. Gotta thank you bro for altering my thinking with weighted calisthenics. Salute.

very very inspiring. I'm stuck at 2 plates (40kg) rn and feels very hard already. I also plan to work on it for years. Maybe I can get 60 kg in the next couple years.

This is my favorite video you've ever posted as somebody who uses chin ups as a main lift. My max is 135lb for 1 lol rep work and max are on completely different levels. You nailed it. 95% is mental with this lift. Man what a great way to wake up. About to train right now so super hyped now.

Good stuff, congratulations man! I'm gunning for that 3 plate chin up right now. Went from 90 to 117.5 in the last 12 months, the grind is real 😅😂

Just hit 3 plates.
I’m on my way.

Well over a year later and i just hit +70kg. Halfway there boys. I also weigh 92.5kg and am 6”1 so 75% BW chinup achieved.
You’re right, Pushing through delusional negative thoughts gotta be the hardest part of this journey.

I totally agree with your comment about consistency. True natural gains are made with a “long game” mentality in mind. Sure, you need some short term goals, but long term is where it’s at.

Lets goo alex!! You are the definition of an elite natural imo. Congrats!!

Love your work ethic man. I just hit a weighted chinup pr last week of 80kg at 140kg bodyweight, and i feel that using the methods you stated in this video helped me achieve that.
Keep up the hard work 💯💯💯

Thanks Alex, really needed this video was starting to feel burnt out after being stuck at 50 lbs for 10 on weighted pullups for the past month, but this helped me realized the slow progress is normal, and getting to 90 for reps is gonna take time, but something i just need to work at for and be patient.
