Thanks for the video. I'm the owner of LSS Mods. The reason the hood hits the brackets is because the sides of the cook chamber are out of square. They point outward. That being said I did recently change the upper brackets to a shorter design. I was trying to get as much length as possible to allow the racks to slide outward. As far as the flex. I state on the website that they will hold 30lb of meat without issue. I guarantee they will although they flex a little bit will be no issue.

I have only the middle rack, and even though they seem flimsy they actually worked great for me. I have cooked 2 pork shoulders one time and 2 briskets another time on it without any issue. I also cooked 5 rack of ribs on it. The only issue I have LSS mods was the firebox as it's warping. Idk if it's from the coals or the wood chunks I put in the ash bucket grate, but it is warping. I do not know when it started but I did install it when I got my MB before any cook, so about 9 months now. I cook on it almost every weekend and sometimes twice over the weekend.

For the cost, I expected that the racks would have a better fit and be quite a bit sturdier. I'm glad I didn't spend the money on this mod.

I have every upgrade on my MasterBuilt 1050 and upgraded to the fireboard 2

Where did the hopper cover knob go?! Did you intentionally remove it? Get the LSS manifold cover and brackets. Then you can put a water bath bn the heat and the meat! Thanks for the vid!

I am interested in the Masterbuilt Gravity feed smokers but dismayed that they are designed / built so poorly that these upgrades are needed for their longevity and a good cooking experience. Why hasn't Masterbuilt improved the construction?

Really? Gotta spend ANOTHER 500, 800 or 1000 dollars in upgrades to obtain a quality product…. That’s what it boils down too …. JUST TALKED ME OUT OF BUYING ONE, How many other people bailed on this item ……thanks for the heads up.

Those look super flimsy…. as they say you get what you pay for.
