You're absolutely right and I'm going too reiterate, all DAWs serve a purpose, some do some things better than others, each has it's benefits and drawbacks and the best is Ableton Live.

Finally someone who gives me useful information and not only "there's no best DAW blah blah blah". THANK YOU! :)

My two gotos ATM are Ableton and Reaper. I have Bitwig, though not a current upgrade plan. I have FL, though generally i'll use it to make loops using its internal stuff that I later arrange in Ableton (never got on with the FL workflow).

I love ableton, it is my main daw, BUT ableton sends are definetely not usable if your routing is more complicated. You can not relocate the position of sends and you have to be careful for feedback loops if you are not returning a send inside a group etc. Also sends are by default enabled, so imagine that you have 100 tracks and you decide to add a send.

Pro tools hasn’t realized how much the industry has changed, in the next 10 years most producers are gonna be the mixers too and pro tools is so hard to create, its great for mixing tho. It’s like designed for the engineers and not for musician. But even music school are teaching mixing to musicians

Honestly guys and gals....it doesn't matter which DAW you use. It depends on your ability to master the software. I would advise pick one and learn it well. I use Ableton since it was the most robust daw at my time of picking one in 2015 but the upgrades are expensive like 300 cad every 3 years. FL is easy to use because of the sequencer hence the reason why a lot of EDM heads use that. A lot of older heads will say Pro tools because that was the best at the time they learnt. My 5 year old son uses garageband so logic would be easier for him etc

Which sounds better? I know some folks gonna say a daw is a daw. But not true. Recording in fl studio sound better to me than protools. Dont know but it just sounds better. Work flow in protools is what im used to though

My main DAW is FL Studio. Never putting that down, but I am learning a second DAW.
Definitely gonna go with Ableton for that one.

I grew to love Ableton. While at times I hate some of the performance issues. It is the fastest workflow I've ever had in any daw. I still am working to learn all the keyboard commands so that I can be more efficient at doing the things I'm trying to achieve.

Im an old guy last time I recorded anything it was on analog tapes. I want to record on a very basic level with instruments guitar bass drum machine vocals harmonica, maybe a keyboard. I just want lay down basic tracks, overdub additional instruments and I don't want have to go to college in order to do it. I am not interested in prefabricated instrumentation at this time. After hearing your dissertation I'm still not sure what type software I should select first. I just want to play my instruments and record my songs. please pardon my slowness in understanding. I just want the easiest and most straight forward way to record my ideas using the most simplistic software the exists. It was so simple using analog

Pro Tools is designed to mimic what you would do on a physical board with physical hardware, so people who learn on that can easily transition to digital editing and non-destructive creating.

Okay, I understand the awesomeness of ableton (it's my brothers favorite, He uses it as a hip-hopper in the session and normal mode) and In think Pro Tools should improve If it still wants to taken serious on the long way. A similar message goes to Cubase which I have used since I Producer music.

But I see a big difference of usage for the different kind of player. I personally thoight that abletons instruments were a joke when I tried them. But I produce any kind of music and habe no great range of real instruments to produce audio, so I need many good acoustic midi instruments.

My highlight is Studio One. It's not more than a normal DAW in opposite to ableton, but it's simply good in everything. Very intelligent workflow, stylefull flexible interface, great range of instruments of any kind, qualitative effects, easy to learn and melodyne included. But that's only for my situation since I don't need a live session.

If you're using a Mac, then performance in Logic Pro X is actually MUCH better than Ableton Suite. I switched from Ableton to Logic because Ableton was so laggy on my brand new maxed out MacBook Pro. Logic Pro runs like butter. Being able to do audio takes is awesome too. I can't believe Ableton still doesn't have takes in 2020! Finally, Logic looks prettier... except for those damn drop down menus haha.

I haven't used Pro Tools though. I'm not a grandpa

A really good explanation which hopefully will put to bed the debates...what’s best is what’s best for you. I use Protools as a tape recorder mostly. It adds recording to my hardwire setup and then I use it for mastering, mixing etc etc

I think you are the first one that get me! At the beginning of the year I took a course about mixing and mastering (from an engineer that has worked with a lot of the big people in the industry) and all the course was with Pro Tools (When I wanted to start recording I developed a hate relationship with pro tools like about 10 years ago) but I said “I’m going to give it an opportunity and actually try to learn Pro Tools... all the freaking course I was like “I can do that routing way faster y Ableton, that send its automatic in Ableton, etc etc” but the teacher kept saying “ oh you mix in Ableton?! Wtf? If you want to REALLY mix you have to use pro tools or at the very least cubase... Ableton it’s horrible for mixing” and every single thing he teach me in pro tools I could do it way more easily in Ableton.... so someone who is nice please tell me why everyone says pro tools it’s the best of the best for mixing?! :(
