Still using my Sony a7 iii in 2024! It's a great camera...just used it to shoot a wedding in Mexico. It does it all and lets be honest. It takes a while to build a work-flow and to dial in all your camera settings. It's surprising to me how many people rush out and buy the latest-and-greatest when it's often better to be nimble and quick and 1st know hot to get the most out of what you already have before going out and starting over with something new. Just my .02 on the matter...but I think it's still a very reliable and creative camera in 2024.

Dude this video was so good, I just assumed you had like 500K subs. I appreciate the strong recommendations as the A6700 was exactly the one I was comparing to with this one for YouTube videography. Subbed and please keep it up :D

For me, the big strike against the a7C and the a6700 is the single SD card slot. Having a backup is important, especially if you're doing any kind of professional work. Your reputation is worth so much, and you don't want to take chances with it. That's where the a7 III makes a lot more sense, especially if you buy it used.

4:00 not complicated at all. :) I bought two this year, for the price of one discounted A7 IV. ;;) Making the switch after 17 years on Nikon. But I'm more of a late follower myself.
I think the camera is fantastic. For the money and with 3 years warranty, could not ask for more. It's also good to make money with, no problem. It was 5-6 years ago, it still is now. The menu is to forget about (I understand they've improved it on the newer cameras), but other than that the camera it's just awesome. I like the compact form factor. I wish it had more dials (as found on A9, A1), but I can work quite ok with what it offers. Speaking of high iso noise, A7 III actually performs better than A7 IV. And I wouldn't recommend an aps-c camera over a full frame one. Not ever. As a side/backup camera, maybe. But not as a main camera. Also, A7 III offers two SD slots. Fitted 128 gb and 256 gb cards it allows for 7500+ uncompressed raws. Taking into account I have two cameras (different focal lengths) I can cover a 2-3 days festival with no problems.
So, who needs a solid camera that can do almost anything photography related, offering also good video capabilities, all at a very decent price, I think this is the one to go for. And it will still hold its ground for some good years from now on.

Bought the A7III in December my first full frame camera and honestly I’d definitely recommend to getting this camera in 2024, but ONLY when it’s on discount, got mines for $1.4k at B&H with the 85mm 1.8 and honestly it’s still a beast of a camera

I just grabbed an a7iii for my personal camera after using the original a7s from it's launch. The agency I work for uses an A1 for photo and B video and a Burano for A video cam so I am also familiar with Sony's current flagships. I always used my a7s with adapted canon lenses and was able to trade those into mpb and get an a7iii with a tamron 28-75 2.8 g2 for a about 500 out of pocket. I mostly upgraded for an individual photoshoot instead of renting a higher resolution body (the a7s would have sucked for the gig). I don't need 10 bit video for my personal video work. After getting 10 years out of my a7s when I actually was using it as my main income source and using the A1 on a regular basis for pro work I can feel very safe knowing I'll be set for a a good few more years with the a7iii.

I love the A7iii. Use it a lot at my studio job. I personally run a Lumix G85 as an A and the A7ii as a B when filming, but i experiment with the A7iii a lot for photography. It's a great camera. I don't know much about the 6700 but I do know a lot of people that went up to the A7iiii and skipped over its former. Always produces really great content with a longer lens (at least, with my style lol). The A7iii is great for producing cinematic work

Just picked up an a7iii for 900 bucks with under 5k shutter actuations. Amazing camera, I love mine! I prob wouldn't buy it new or at 1400 bucks though - I'd shell out a few more hundred and get a Lumix S5ii. Solid review

You certainly could. A lot of people are also dumping A7Cs at a discounted rate right now too. Same guts, on a diet.

I've been watching a ton of videos on this model lately. I have a Canon 5D Mk III but I want one of these asap. Maybe I'll get it for myself for the holidays lol. Great vid!

Great insight. I really appreciate you making this video. I was flirting with the idea of purchasing a Sony A7iii since it's on sale but I will take a look at the other models you mentioned.

Thanks for this video the way you express your way about the camera after using it its really eye opening and i found a 6700 for less than an a7iii

I wanted to get an A6700, but they cost 1600€ for the body only, add 500 to 700 for a 18-50 or 17-70 and it's quite a lot more than an A7 III and a 28-75 from Tamron! I got a second hand A7 III with 9000 shutter count for just under 1200€, and it came with a Godox flash and a second battery too. Dropped another 650€ for a brand new 28-75 G2 which was also a steal! Still, if the A6700 was cheaper I would have got it without thinking, much newer, portable and cheaper lenses while still achieving extremely good sharpness. By the way, the quality on your videos is amazing, wish you the best!

Excellent video in every respect. Nobody is commenting on the size of view finders. If you wear glasses the A cameras take a lot longer to get used to if at all. I have opted for the A7 III because I can actually see to compose. Big help!

The only problem with going for the A6700 or AC bodies is that they do not have dual card slots. Although I have no cards fail, it is still a good safe space to work in when you are doing event photography. For this reason, I think the A7 III can be better than the more advanced option that you recommend.

I'm about to buy the a6700, but some part of me is debating if buying the a7iii

Got this a month ago for around 1100 USD (taxes included) with the 28-70 lens, definitely worth it, less than half of what an A7 IV goes for. Still an extremely capable camera.

Interesting that in UK the body is around £950 at the moment. I have an interest in this but undecided
