hey, Im looking for my first camera, and its pretty much either this or the a6400. However, I am aware this can only take up to 1080, not 4k video. I am looking to do both video and photo, is it still a good decision.

number of things here are wrong:

first of all, if the sensor resolution of the A7II and A7III are identical, those sensors are NOT the same.

The A7II is a front side illuminated, single gain sensor, while the A7III is a back side illuminated dual gain sensor with a second native ISO of 640

It results in a similar image quality from ISO 100 to 400 on both cameras, but the A7III has a considerably better noise performance (and better dynamic range as well) once you get at that second native ISO, leading to very clean images at high ISOs, while the A7II struggle against even APS-C cameras once you get past ISO 3200 for both luminance noise and color noise.

Also, be real for a second you won't notice a difference of 50g between the A7II and A7III once you have a lens on it and an overall package weight of close to a kg. It is also considerably worse for both focusing and ergonomics, the A7III having a joystick, better eye detect and tracking and an AF system that has been the benchmark for years (while the A7II just get destryed by entry level cameras from 2017, just sayin')

Really, there is only 2 arguments for the A7II in this day and age : the price. There isn't any other camera that give you IBIS and and a full frame sensor below 500 bucks. The problem is that the performance is not there, and even a Nikon D600 from 2012 has a better sensor than this, and is also considerably cheaper, with more affordable glass too. It can take good pictures but there is much better cameras for the money. If you had to buy a camera from that second generation Sony camera bodies, get the A7RII, but definitely skip the A7II. Or get an APS-C equivalent camera like a Fujifilm X-H1 for the same price

Hello, one stupid question for all the people rocking the a7 2.

I have purchased a 50mm fe lens, AF is available in picture mode, but in movie mode i only have MF and no option to focus (while recording or even before it)

My question is how to enable it since AF works with the kit 28-70
