How magnificently they summed up the ending of this fight, making a reference to the final duel from the first movie! Remember, Ip Man never delivered that last finger punch to the neck, as the Japanese general he defeated was already almost dead. But that finger strike was possible, it was just that Ip Man didn't finish it then. And in this, the last film, he still struck this blow, as if completing his last fight and the whole history of Ip Man.

I personally think that for the final film, it shows the changes in style that Yip Man has throughout the years and against varying adversities.
First movie: Arguably his prime, showing a lot of control followed by a combination of fitness and technique.
Second movie: Also arguably his prime, although the focus on techniques and precision when fighting against mic stronger opponents.
Third movie: Over his prime, but still in relatively good shape. His final fight show cases skill against skill, with experience and his natural calmness ultimately allowing him the win
Final movie: way past his prime. Almost noticeably, the change from his previous attacks; his attacks are now more centred towards aggressive and attacking and breaking down aggressive opponents(e.g Knife hand to neck, kick to balls, punches aimed at liver shots etc) With his physical fitness down, he attacks literally aim to breakdown his opponent, although he does still exert self control towards the end of the fights
