South African wax pan seal horizontal toilet outlet pipe installation.

A toilet gasket that is leaky causes tremendous problems. The smell of urine smells very bad when dripping from the outlet pipe.
The only way to fix it is to install a wax pan seal without removing the toilet. South African toilets are in many cases cemented onto the floor with the outlet at the back, this is why a pan seal will do the trick.

This is a great video, thanks. For a UK audience, I used denso tape. We can't get wax rings over here. Thanks again

Plumber came and gave a quote of R1200 to do that. I came across your video and did it myself for R40

Beautiful!! this was just what I was after. Thanks so much for sharing. The rubber broke on our toilet at the seal, and was wondering how I could fix it without having to undo the whole toilet as it's grouted to the floor. You're a life saver!!!

Thanks - this is very useful as I was looking for SA specific videos and I am going to try this weekend. But shouldn't Step 0 be to stop the water supply and drain water out of toilet bowl? p.s. Never mind - I see you have answered it 6 months ago. Thanks.

If any leaks should occur from this exercise, just push in more wax to create greater compression. Use another wax seal.

Thank you! I was wondering how to get the seal around the pipe!. One query which I will no doubt find the answer to when I start with this is - do you have to turn the water off? Isn't there only water in that pipe when the toilet flushes? My turnoff is a hard to access

Must I flash same time? Or must I leave it a bit since it seem so wet not yet dry

Hi . How do I replace the rubber in my toilet cistern system. The system arm /lever does not pop up when the chain is pulled.

Great video, but can one not just fit a coupling with a rubber seal, this wax method seems a little archaic?

I have a leak and I see there's already wax there - so I'm not sure if another seal wouldn't push the wax too far into the outlet and perhaps cause a blockage? Should I rather clean out the wax and redo?
