If I had a penny every time “Clinically Proven” was mentioned I could have paid off my student Loans

My Nana said to rub in “good old cooking oil everyday” She died 29 yrs ago God Bless her. Yet this tip is still passed down to the ladies in our family, and NONE of them has stretch marks. 🙏🏼

I miss you Nana.😢

It's a good thing ppl are actually embracing stretch marks now instead of feeling bad about them, because there's nothing wrong with them.

Once the skin it’s stretched there’s no getting rid of them. That layer of your skin is already opened. They improve over time and redness goes away but they will always be there. No big deal!

Stretch marks aren't something that should be prevented. I said what I said. I literally tore the dermis of my skin to make my child. Like a caterpillar tearing it's cocoon. When the baby is grown and your body goes back to "normal", it's the most prominent reminder of the battle your body fought out of love.

I’ve had two boys. I didn’t stretch that much bc they were both 5lbs. I’m tiny though. I wear what little stretch marks that I have as a badge of honor!

Fun fact: you can't actually get rid of stretch marks you can only lighten the appearance

Either you get them, or you don’t. There’s so many factors and the least of all of them is lotion. They form from the inner layers of the skin, where no amount of oil will reach.

A women’s stretch marks tell the story of her life. They are the roadmap of her journey and should be celebrated.
I read somewhere once that a husband called his wife’s stretch marks her tiger stripes and I have always loved that.

It also tied of levels of stress, which relises cortisol in the body and enhances dry skin... So one of the best ways to prevent it would be foods high in collagen, Magnesium and generally foods, drinks and a Lifestyle that allows for peace of mind and relaxing

Nothing prevents them. They lighten up on their own. From what I'm told, that can take a couple of years. They are inevitable. They are your battle scars. Be proud of them. ❤

Can we stop shaming women who were pregnant for having stretch marks? It's ridiculous, their bodies make great sacrifices, change is normal

I'm guessing I just had good genetics because I did nothing to prevent stretch marks and after 3 pregnancies I didn't have a single one. Just to clarify, I was in the healthy weight range for my height before becoming pregnant all 3 times so I wasn't overweight or underweight. I gained 25lbs with first pregnancy, 15lbs with the second and 20 lbs with the 3rd. I didn't try to limit weight gain or anything and was eating everything, I just never gained much weight. Since all 3 of my children measured right where they should have for their gestation when they did scans on me, my doctor said my weight gain was fine even though it was a little under the recommended weight gain for someone in the "normal" prepregnancy weight range. My first, a boy born at 38 weeks weighed 7lbs 12 oz at birth, second a girl born at 38 weeks also and my smallest weighed 6lbs 7oz, and my 3rd a boy born at 39 weeks weighed 7lbs 9oz. my pregnancy with my daughter was definitely the hardest one and I did feel sick during a lot of it which may have contributed to me not gaining as much with her but my doctor was never concerned about my weight gain. By the time I left the hospital after having all 3 of my children I had lost all the pregnancy weight. You really couldn't tell I had just given birth so my weight gain was all baby and pregnancy related and none to any other parts of my body, well besides my chest 😂. it was crazy and I was definitely super lucky. I was ages 21, 25, and 32 when I gave birth to each of my kids and I definitely had a high metabolism so I think that helped with me not gaining much and losing it so fast. Fast forward to me now being age 41 and I definitely no longer have that high metabolism and am now struggling with weight gain for the first time in my life due to medication I had been on. Had I gained a ton during pregnancy though or had stretch marks, I wouldn't have cared. It's all an amazing part of creating life and pregnancy bodies of all types are beautiful. It's incredible what our bodies can do and it should be celebrated. No one should ever be made too feel bad about how their body looks during or after pregnancy or at any time in their life. Beautify comes in all different shapes and sizes with all kinds of imperfections.

How about we say to society, “IT’S OK TO HAVE STRETCH MARKS”, especially AFTER pregnancy……..or for ANY REASON, for that matter. Creating ways to minimize or hide what should be instead normalized, is a cruel & unfair action that targets nearly everyone.
