The "i'm only half french" actually is meaningfull if you know enough about the whole historical mess that happenned between France and Algeria. Fun fact, George is technically not speaking English, but Jamaican Patois/Creole, a sort of hybrid language of English with various Western African languages (mostly Akan). It uses a great deal of English words, but uses them in a way that's more like Akan. For instance, the way to say "I am running" is "Mi am run". That's why they give him subtitles.

If you've ever played these games before, you know that 90% of the explanations for everything lies in the codec conversations. For instance, he legit thought he was disguising himself with souvenirs. So, this game is unironically prophetic in a TON of ways. I thought it was a joke even when it came out, but I'm replaying it and Sam gets rescued by a tiltrotor aircraft. The winner of the US advanced vertical lift system is a tilt-rotor design. That decision was made months ago and this game came out ten years ago.
