In this quick tutorial, Marco explains how to combine animations to create a seamless transition between movements using Blender's 2.9 NLA system, particularly with Mixamo assets.
While Mixamo was used in this video, the workflow is applicable to Blender animation in general.

Timesteps:
00:00 - Introduction
00:24 - Collating animation data from Mixamo
01:58 - Graph editor tweaks
03:29 - Blending clips
03:56 - Baking actions

The most painless explanation of combining animations in the NLA I've seen. Great context and demonstration without the painful explanations without context of application. Great job.
Been using Blender since the IPO days.

I was struggling for 2 days to blend Mixamo animations in 3Ds MAX using different tutorials with no success. Lots of errors all the time.
Thanks to this video I was able to make what I want in 1h. Thank you!!! That was clear and informative and that was my 2nd time using Blender.

you can also select both actions if they are separated and click add transition to smooth it out.

Thanks, this was soo useful - been struggling with this for a long time because being total noob in Blender.
For those other noobs who can't see the bones go to Object properties -> Viewport Display and tick "In Front" box.

I also want to thank you. Starting to work with Mixamo fbx actions and discovered this issue. Best approach I've seen yet.

This is by far the best explanation of this process I've seen. Thanks!

Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure out an easy way of doing this for years (literally)!

This was so much easier than several other methods. Thank you for this great explanation 👏

if im not mistaken, you can always export fbx without the mesh but only take the animation. This will make your export from mixamo faster. BTW this is cool tutorial :).

Best 4 minutes of my life lol. But seriously probably going to be one of those videos I watch multiple times and rewatch as I follow along. Sincerely thank you for the smooth explanation. I genuinely had no idea how to combine the FBX animations like this. Now I will be able to import a crap ton of animation and mix and tweak away.

That was fantastic! I actually learned more from this short video with you demonstrating the workflow practically than with longer videos trying to explain all the functions of the NLA editor in a theoretical manner. Thank you! c:

What about having a walking animation continue past what Mixamo will create?

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been looking for this for a long time! Can I ask how to "tab into pose" mode and "search for bake action?" would appreciate it if the keybinds were enabled so that we would know what keys you're pressing in future videos

What you press to "search" bake action?

Does this method still work in newer versions? I'm following along but when I add the second nla strip the one below it stops working
